He started. Had 10 points 4 boards 1 assist & 2 blocks. Looked OK. Needs to work on the defensive end a bit - he's not the most athletic guy on the floor anymore so he needs to anticipate the play more than in college.

Cool story on Fred Vanvleet. He went undrafted after tearing it up at Wichita State. He had his whole family over for a watch party to see who would draft him on draft night in 2016. After he didn't get drafted he went on the mic and said something like it wouldn't be right if he did get drafted cause he always has a chip on his shoulder. And that his story or career in basketball won't end here and he decided to bet on himself. On his website, it says he chose to go undrafted but I believe teams just didn't want to draft him.  

Later, he was picked up by the Raptors on a two-way contract and tore it up in the Summer League. Flash forward to this season and he was a consistent #2 pg off the bench for Toronto, who was arguably the deepest team in the League. He also was in the running for 6th man of the year award.

During the playoffs, he struggled in the first rounds against Orlando and Philadephia. After three horrible performances against the Bucks in games 1, 2, and 3 his son was born. Once his son was born it breathed new life into Fred, he almost became unplayable but his coaches and teammates believed in him and he believed in himself. He then hit 7 threes in a crucial game 5 to help secure a victory against the Bucks and went on to average superb numbers after that. Without him, the Raptors would not be NBA champs because of his crucial shots and great defense on Steph Curry, which helped them win it all.
