It's Not the Players Miles Can't Get, It's the Ones He Can't Keep

But there's a painful irony to the Tim Miles era. It's not the players he couldn't get that may haunt him, it's the players he couldn't keep.

Nebraska had Terran Petteway and Walt Pitchford on campus — they led the Huskers to the NCAA tournament as sophomores. They should’ve made at least one more trip. Instead, after a season in which NU started in the Top 25 and finished 13-18, they bailed.

Nebraska had Andrew White III on campus. If he were around in 2016-17, the Huskers may have made the NCAA tournament. Instead, White bailed last June, leaving Miles with a gaping offensive hole.

Yes, transfers are part of college basketball. But losing Nick Fuller and Jeriah Horne is one thing. You’re not supposed to lose starters like Ed Morrow, whose foot injury contributed to NU's late-season swoon.

Ed Morrow and Jess Shepard announce transfers in the same week? After seasons in which the NU men and women combined to go 19-41. Could it possibly be worse?

2003 was close. Barry Collier went 11-19; Connie Yori went 8-20. (19-39 combined).

Yori, like Williams, had just completed her first year. One year later, Nebraska made the WNIT. If Williams can make a similar jump in year two, it’ll be a major achievement.

Look for a big announcement tomorrow/multiple announcements in regards to more potential transfers and/or administration changes. Can't say for sure any specifics so I don't want to speculate more but I know it should be happening.

Do you know about what time these announcements will be made?
