I said the following last week . . .

I mostly agree with epocSoN and BigWillie. Taylor's speed is not the issue . . . it's his lateral quickness/decision making that has me concerned at times.
Think back about when a defender got in his face in the backfield . . . Taylor should be quick enough to move around them and buy time . . . but instead he is usually sacked. Has Taylor avoided pressure, stepped into the pocket and fired a pass even once this year? I don't remember it if he has. Hopefully it comes with experience.

Keep in mind that this is not an attack on TM. I'm just stating what I see.

And well...we saw the exact opposite of that yesterday. Fantastic performance by Martinez. I've never been happier to be wrong.

 
maybe, as some claim, he came to this site and read what you wrote and decided to take your advice?

you weren't wrong in your opinion, he just actually avoided pressure yesterday. I like how he ducked out of bounds a couple times too, along with getting the ball snapped before 4 seconds on the play clock.

he is showing some real growth concerning "game management" situations, but still makes some pretty freshman mistakes

 
makes some pretty freshman mistakes... this would only be a problem if he was a junior or a senior. @carlfense, it's cool that you noted your comments from last week. I have done the same type of thing and been very glad to be wrong since all I want is for the Huskers to find their mojo and win. I'll happily eat crow too. For a very long time, I have said Wats was worthless. Yesterday, his game plan was more than solid. Actually, he saved our bacon yesterday.

 
I'm not a fan of Watson still, but I have to say he called a great game yesterday. He needs to do it again this weekend and we need to play with some damn fire at home. We can't be afraid to let our guys do what they do. Defensive line needs to start playing better and getting some pressure for crying out loud. :ahhhhhhhh

 
Yeah I mentioned in the gameday thread I may have been kinda wrong in my opinion of that. He showed he was better than I thought, but he also showed at times iwhat I said was partially true. I'm becoming much more comfortable with him running the offense now.

 
You weren't wrong. He's just improving. I noticed it the first 3 games too. He'd take the sack when there was a wide open field in front of him. He'd only run on designed run plays. It's fun to see him get better at the (few) things he wasn't great at.
