From his online chat today:

Luke (Omaha): Ivan, will Bo Pelini be the next head coach at Nebraska?

Ivan Maisel: (2:21 PM ET ) I doubt that Nebraska would wait for him. Assuming that Osborne wants him, and we don't know that, Pelini would have to decide whether he would leave LSU early, or whether he can do justice to both jobs. Mark Richt made a mess of the BCS Championship Game seven years when he tried to be FSU off. coord. and the new head coach at Georgia. That had something to do with why the Seminoles scored two points.

Hmm, I'm kind of surprised by his response. I always thought of TO as a man of patience. I kind of always thought this was how we beat Miami in 94'. With having quite a few talented players already in the system, I would think TO would rather wait for the right guy and sacrifice a recruiting class than vice versa assuming Pelini is the right guy.

Not to be rude, but what does Ivan Maisel know about Nebraska? I'd take the word of two or three dozen guys here at HuskerBoard over his any day, and twice on Saturdays.

Even if we have to pull the Mark Richt scenario, I'd be fine with it as long as we got Bo. That being said, I know Bo wouldn't do that to his LSU team. Should be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

Yeah, Maisel has always been a huge Nebraska hater. I'm sure that taints anything he says about our program.

i don't think Maisel is a hater. his wife is an alumnus of UNL. i'm not saying that that guarantees a liking of the program, but he's obviously gonna understand more than most. he'll know the tradition and character of Nebraska football. unlike some people (Chris Fowler, sCUm alum)

One of the women I work with is a CU alum and she couldn't be a bigger Husker fan. I don't think his wife's alma mater is going to affect how he does his job much.
