Very solid season - but when you look at the fact that David had 152 tackles and Gomes had 99 it makes you realize how many runners were getting past the line of scrimage.

People are out of touch when it comes to crick.

76 tackles and 7 sacks.....suhs numbers as a jr. cricks stats are better numbers than jason peter ever put up. crick was performing at an elite level....unless he tested out really really bad he is a 1st or 2nd rounder

Well these "quiet" stats, 32 tackles, 6 sacks, 15.5 TFL, two pass breakups, and one fumble recovery were loud enough to get 63 million over five years and the third pick in the draft. Gerald McCoy put those numbers up in the same defensive system of taking up blockers to free up LBs.

id be surprised if he went lower than the second round. he's getting quite a bit of buzz coming off the big 12 title game and even more from the general belief he can play and succeed in a 4-3 or a 3-4. on top of that, he has the size those guys drool over.

i think husker fans, and maybe the general public, have suh goggles still on. crick is a force and quietly had a very impressive, consistent year.

Meh. Harrell is a horrible comparator. The NFL screws up on talent evals all the time. Ryan Leaf gets drafted #2 overall and has a truly horrific career. Kurt Warner was an undrafted free agent who couldn't get a shot at a starting job. Harrell would be a fine NFL quarterback. Don't underestimate the obstinance of NFL groupthink.

Actually, stats, namely on defense, can be highly redeeming factors for players. Brandon Spikes from UF and Lavonte David. Spikes was slow ans had poor time measurables, but got drafted high and is even a starter for the Pats now because he's got a nose for the ball, just a natural instinct for playing his position. Same with Lavonte; he's not nearly ideal size for any sort of LB but he'll get his shot because his production is through the roof.

apples and oranges. harrel was all the system. stats are about the best way for the casual fan to gauge the production of a defensive tackle.

Great point! I seem to recall years ago when "the know it alls" kept saying that a 5'11 232lb guy who went by the name of Jessie Tuggle, was too small to play linebacker. 5 pro bowls later, I'd say he did just fine!

This. He had an exceptional season. He maybe 2nd or 3rd round, or he may still be a 1st rounder. Lets just hope he comes back!

Crick's biggest fault is he didn't turn into Suh 2.0 like people expected. He's Jared Crick, not Suh. And he's doing just fine.

He'd be crazy to leave with the Lockout. The Line should be better next year, assuming our players stop drinking and driving, and so should his numbers!
