Jameis Winston Case just got interesting...

Once again, I fail to see how this is a big deal.
It's not hard to see how it's a big deal, but there is a lot to be suspicious about for any casual observer.
It doesn't seem shady IMO. The police just told her the truth. Yes, if you're filing a sexual assault against a popular sports figure, there will be lots of people that will berate her and "rake her over the coals". Is it right? Of course not. Is it something she should probably know? IMO, yes. No reason to make a bigger deal out of it than it is.
It is a HUGE deal, a police department should never speculate a worst case scenario to a vulnerable victim and present it as fact. This was a tactic to try and scare them from filing a legitimate charge from everything I have seen.

I am too lazy to check, but did JW admit to having sex with her?

If not.. her panties with his swimmers is not a good thing.... but if they had sex and he said it was consensual, unless the rape kit proves differently, she might be SOL.

Duke Lacrosse.....

Lets hold off on the stoning. Some guys are scumbags but girls can be just as devious.
This right here...rape is horrible but do some women put themselves in stupid situations? Are some big liars? Glad I don't have to pick a side in this (like a jury might)

I don't think a rape kit can "prove" a rape unless there are some unusual bruises.

This is my shocked face.

So, a case in which the victim was intimidated by the police not to say anything then MONTHS later comes forward doesn't have a clear memory of the event?

No.

Way.

Here's a link to a lot of the TPDs documents.

I think it's worth a read.

By the way, "The System" is a book that should be suggested. It really was enlightening to have a working understanding of the Derrick Washington and BYU cases before this one came public.

The timing that this came out at always intrigues me.

I am not saying this young lady is making it up. I have no idea, and not accusing her of lying or trying for attention.

But you gotta wonder her true motive. Lets be honest, it isnt the truth. It is either payback or a payday... simple as that.

Not taking JW side... but I just always wonder when these stories decide to come out...
Well...she was drunk...and had a boyfriend, at least at the time...

There is NO excuse for rape. Ever. But what happens if you get drunk and sleep with a prominent figure? Or anyone for that matter? Happens all the time on campus. Most deal with it. Guys and girls messing up, and have to face the music. But it's becoming more and more apparent that some don't.

I wish there was some way to say that if he did rape her, they could tell him right now that anything he ever did at FSU would be erased, he would never be in any football records, and that he would go away for the majority for his life. As it stands, can't judge him this way.

I've been thinking about this a lot

and I think more than anything

i hope that this does not scare other women who are legitimate rape victims from being terrified of coming out with the truth. That would be a really sad impact.

I agree with the last two posts.

From the info on the case that I heard, it sounds like a girl who made a drunk regrettable decision and wanted to justify it by calling it assault. I could be wrong or lacking pertinent info, but that's what it seems at this time. Sorry to say it, tho.

In contrast, I hope this case DOES scare women who are looking to file a false rape report, whether for purposes of revenge, "buyer's remorse", jealousy, etc. Those who try to ruin men's lives in this way should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
