I knoe we played true freshmen this year but I was wondering if we will see jay guy this weekend? Im sure he could help get to the qb maybe

Getting to the qb from the Dline isnt in our defensive philosphy, we maintain gaps and eat up O lineman.

As for Guy, i doubt we see him. Its half way through the year, against mizzou to burn his redshirt.

If he hadnt played by now, he wont, barring an injury.

We prolly won't see Jay Guy this year, but I really like him, may not be the biggest, fastest, strongest, but he could be a solid player down the road if he keeps working on getting into shape the way he has since he got here.

I don't think honestly it is as much philosophy as it is ability to get to the qb with our d line. Obviously when we had Suh, we got to the qb. Without him we don't. Oversimplification, granted but basically the case. Ask the qbs we played last year if the d line got to the qb ? Indeed this is the biggest reason we are in the lower half of D1 in red zone defense, while last season we were number one. Our improvement on offense has been offset by a big drop off in the D. We badly need elite DL players, but they are hard to come by.

We'd ssee Rome before Guy if anyone was pulled from their redshirt. At this time it is VERY unlikely that it'd happen.

I just really wish Bo would mix things up a little on D with the line. Run the 2 gap, fine but do some stunts or call some full out rushes once in awhile. I think one reason we're susceptible to the run is because the other teams know exactly where our lineman and hackers are depending on how they line up their O. This makes us easy to block. Be nice to see some stunts, slants, etc. JMO

I could have swore i saw Rome on the field a few times earlier in the season...

nevermind that was Justin Jackson, thats who i was thinking of, he played a few times against Washington.

Gotta agree ..... we have issues up front, one big issue is that we may make things challenging for a QB but we are not able to rattle, disrupt, perplex, or shake up a QB. To me this explains the lack of turnovers and big play from the front lines.
