A little info on Mr. Davis

Davis had a standout senior year at Venice High School in Los Angeles for Coach Angelo Gasca, completing 67 percent of his passes for 3,152 yards and 40 touchdowns, against just 10 interceptions. Davis spread the ball around the field effectively, as three of Venice's wideouts topped 1,000 yards receiving in 2003.

Davis led Venice to a 13-1 record and a berth in the sectional championship game where it was defeated by Carson High School, and threw for a season-high 340 yards against Santa Monica. He threw six touchdown passes in just two quarters against Hamilton High School and had a pair of five-touchdown games as a senior.

Davis was the Los Angeles Times Westside Back of the Year as a senior. He also received first-team all-city honors from the AP, and was named the All-Western League Offensive Player of the Year. Davis transferred to Venice from Carson (Calif.) High School. As a junior at Carson, Davis threw for 1,105 yards and 11 touchdowns and guided his team to a state playoff berth. He turned down scholarship offers from Utah State and Temple.

He also happened to be the QB at the same time Marlon Lucky was the RB. Same school.
More recently: Allowed to play in 70-10 loss to Texas Tech where he was 1 for 7, 12 yds, 3 INTs

Pretty much thrown to wolves and may never recover from that.

Ahhh...c'mon fella's...

Cally will coach to win...he'll play Witt most likely..

What's that famous quote..."We play to win the game!!!"

I agree that it sux. Especially in the light of Gabbert's recent defection. But really...he would have no choice. You gotta' believe he's trying to keep his job. Why else would he be so "stubborn" about this rumored buyout. He's starring the end of his HC career right in the face. I think he wants another shot and is going to do everything he can to win these last 3 games...even if it means burning a red shirt.

He know's he only has 3 games left. There's no way he believe's he's coming back next year. So why wold he care? Other than to try and improve his chances on his fast fading coaching career. :(

So who do you start if Ganz goes down? Witt and Lee are redshirting, hopefully. Do you burn one of them or go with Beau Davis?

Go with Beau.

This season is over. Right now it is but playing for the future. Do not burn a Lee or Witt season to play meaningless games this season.

Sure, some will argue that any game is meaningful, and no one wants 3 more straight losses to, in this case Kansas, KState and Colorado. Still, Witt would not likely be able to take us to victory in any of these games --- and even if he did, what would that matter compared to his having an extra entire year, four years from now.

I would be playing all the youth at this point from here on out (those whose shirts are already burned.

I think so too! the rest of the games will be interesting offense-wise

Also, Lee only has 3 years of playing time here. Waste him this year and he only has 2.

Witt and Davis were named co-backups today. I hope Beau gets a shot to show what he can do before we waste a year of Witt.

Hey jb61264, are you kidding me? Keller has been the lone bright spot for this offense all year long. The games he has struggled it's been because he was running for his life. Do you remember how bad we made Peyton Manning look back in 1997? It's not always the player. He was spot on yesterday and performed great. His only turnover came as a result of a sack that wasn't his fault (his O-line was responsible for that). Stop the 11 year-old daughter talk, you're only embarassing yourself in front of those of us who know football. Just becuase Ganz is more mobile doesn't mean his is a scrambling quarterback. He's not Mike Vick, Vince Young, Dennis Dixon or even Jake Locker. Teams are not going to have to game plan for his scrambling ability. It simply means that he can move a little better to avoid a pass rush. I hope he does great, just stop acting like we had Tommie Frazier as our second string and they were starting Jamaal Lord.
Sorry father5, you're the one embarassing yourself if you think Keller is anything better than an average quarterback. "lone bright spot for this offense"...I have to disagree with you 200%...we don't even use the absolute best talent on offense that we have (Maurice Purify)...Keller finds him maybe once or twice a game???WTH???...an offense is only as good as its quarterback and its obvious that our offense isn't that great.

Being one-dimensional as Keller only adds pressure to the rest of the offense. Defensive coordinators know Keller can't scramble...hell, he can't run period...I don't need Tommie Frazier or Dennis Dixon, but if you had your eyes open for the couple plays Ganz was in there, you saw what a running QB could do to open things up a bit more.
So let me get this straight: Keller sucks cause he can't run and doesn't throw it to Purify the whole game? Good argument.

Someone needs to be ready to go next year. So, why not get it started now in the middle of this debacle. It may force coach to simplify a bit and inadvertantly let the kids confidence grow. Wouldn't that be a novel idea? Hot dam lets hope for a big possitive even if the coached happen upon in by accident.

I want to see Ganz play.

All the time he's spent on the sidelines with this offense, he has to have great awareness by now. I think it's about time he gets his shot.

Agree.....his Spring game performance was less than spectacular also.

well, he certainly knows the playbook by now and i predicted before the season started he would probably play due to injuries to our starter, so..here we go.....let's see what the kid can do now!

In the World Herald this morning it said that Keller bypassed the media and went straight into the arms of his family & friends. Sam Keller cried. It makes one think that Sam knows he hurt pretty bad and that perhaps his season is over. HOWEVER! He didn't hurt his passing arm, it was the left arm. It really depends on what was broken. If it was his collarbone then ouch..he's probably done. But if just a pulled ligament or muscle sprain of some sort maybe he'll be back after a rest?

Get well soon Sammy!

Sam has a broken collarbone. He's done for the season. And if I were him I'd be crying too because the way this so called coaching staff has let this year go, this injury probably ends Sam's entire career. You have to believe his chances of being drafted have been seriously damaged this season.

Sad, because he could have had a future playing pro ball. Just another of BC's disservices to the sport.

Yeah saw that on the scroll at he bottom of Sports Center around 2 or3 pm.

GBR!!!

i am not an expert but i think Ganz getting the start now may be a positive....with the offense that BC has been running we dont need a big arm kid to throw down field...also the way the offensive line has been playing, joe can get out of the way and possibly get a 2 yd gain instead of a 15 yd sack....

the bottom line is that i dont think it really matters who is behind center. Since we dont normally throw over 4 yrds anyone will do.....and if i D cant stop anyone (last week though they did do well)....the scores will be overwhelming.
