Joe Montana scores another touchdown for reality against "Rudy"

There are at least a dozen walk-ons from Nebraska with more compelling stories than Rudy. True stories, rather than fake Hollywood crap.

Rudy served in the Navy for four years before attending Notre Dame, but that wouldn't have made a good underdog story in the movie.

I guess it's reasons like this where Hollywood is different then Reality that they put on the screen, "Based on a true story". In my own honest opinion, the Chicken Soup Bowl (I was a Joe Montana Fan, so I'm biased) has more of a reason to have a player carried off the field, but the Notre Dame players were probably afraid Montana might throw up on them.

You have to remember, a Hollywood producer didn't think up the idea to make a movie about a walk-on player, and decide that Rudy was the best fit out of many, many walk-on candidates. From what I hear, Rudy shopped this story around relentlessly until someone finally picked it up. I guess you can give him credit for persistence. Of course it wasn't all true. Is there any Hollywood sports movie that has been totally accurate?
