NCAA would not allow this for anyone outside the SEC. How is it right for HIM to keep the frickin money when others cant even get a f'ing job? The double standards. It's frickin bullsh#t.

 
How is this any different than a player writing a book about his experiences? This opens up a huge can of worms. If Johnny Manziel doesn't lose his amateur status from this then what's to prevent five-star recruits from authoring books about their time at school. Boosters could buy them by the case and put some $$$ in the player's pocket, and this would apparently be perfectly legal.

Write a book after your Freshman year - $$$

Write a book after your Sophomore year - $$$

Write a book after your Junior year - $$$

Looks like a great way for players to earn some money. All profiting on their name/nickname.

How's about NO ONE. He can liscense it or whatever, but he aint sellin sh#t till he's out of school. Follow the damn rules like everyone else has too.

We'll, I'm not doubting A&M is, but him suing for damages of his name or whatever the details are, and him having the ability to collect those damages himself, as if he'd received them to begin with is bullsh#t. No one else can do such a thing. Why should this be allowed? "Son, youre a college football player, and, like every other college football player, your not receiving a cent legally until your time with Texas A&M is over"

 
It sounds like he will be able to recoup any money made off of him during his time at A&M? Huh.

As Knapplc said, this is opening up a can of worms. Sounds like NCAA wasn't thinking when they made this statement. What's new.

 
So let's get this straight. Johnny Football (a generic reference to someone) will be trademarked to Johnny Manziel. The NCAA said its OK to keep the money he may get form suing the T-shirt maker. Money he made by the sale of his shirts. This will allow Manziel to put his name on just about anything. However, he would not be able to profit from it until he leaves A&M. Providing he has a career after college would be the only way he can make money off the name. And this guy can't sell his songs, unless he changes his name?

Amussing but doubtfull, seeing as how his dad shut down his partnership with the university to sell the "Corn Feed" brand or whatever it was that he licensed to them.
