Agreed, this is a tangent of all tangents.  

Has the new guy ever worked in a 3-3-5 system?  Is that even a concern?

It's probably only a concern he's learning it on the fly.  Which prob also limits the input he will have this season, which would probably be intriguing.  Sean McDermott & Leslie Frazier came off the Jim Johnson coaching tree and it's often said his zone blitz packages were very unique to him alone.  I would be surprised if Tony White couldn't have incorporated a few wrinkles from that D into what he does as the 3-3-5 is a blitzing defense.

For comparison on those numbers, that's the same amount Troy Walters was paid to be OC when Frost was hired. (Chinander was $800k for DC.) Cooper was paid $670k.

It's probably pretty hard to pick out the difference in what players would say if they think their coach sucks.
