Johnny Football

He's been fun to watch alright. Too bad he's not staying another year. He's a lot better college QB than he'll be in the pros. IMO.

Pro players are just so much faster. I don't think Johnny Foosball will be able to juke and weave like he has the past two years. He'll get creamed more. But even that'll be fun to watch too.

I have wondered this too. As great as a college QB he's been how does that style adapt to the pro game? I was wrong about Cam Newton who I thought would fail in the NFL so at this point it's a toss up. I do know one thing. It's going to be a media circus and if he happens to scramble and make a big play that home crowd is going to go nuts. I can't wait to see what happens.

He'll have to adjust to have big success. All his "magic" on the field won't work as well against NFL defenders, so he's going to have to retune his instincts for that. Knowing (instinctively) when to attempt that stuff and when to just eat it or throw it away is a big deal, and it's different at the NFL level. He's got the skills otherwise to do well in the NFL. If he can adjust like I talked about, as well as mentally, I think he'll do just fine.

But that's the question. Can he adjust? I have no real idea, but my gut feeling says yes.

he reminds me of RG III and he was good for one season, until he got creamed and blew out a knee....JF is only 6'1" , he will need to roll out a lot to throw over the big NFL linemen...in the right system, he could be fine, but most QB's are 6'3" or taller and weighing in at 230 plus now, so they can take the hits.

The Duke game was very fun - it turned when Duke went for it on 4th down in the 3rd qtr - they should have ran the ball instead of pass. I was pulling for Duke - so tired of SEC talk.

Regarding Johnny Football - it is true, he is fun to watch - But goodness the hype and media hogging is a bit much to take in - you think Johnny Football was a football god when you listen to the sportscasters during and after the game. OK, I give him his due for winning the Heisman but he is no Tommie Frazier who remains the all time greatest COLLEGE qb in my opinion -by what he accomplished for NU - his leadership (while he was an 'adequate' passer, he played the option and fit Tom's offensive system better than any QB in any offensive system IMHO.) By listening to the guys on TV you thought JM had won both conference championships and both national championships during his 2 years at A&M. But since he played in the SEC and beat Bama once, that places him in the stratosphere. Besides the Heisman (no small thing in winning it but I think he gets the edge wt the SEC bias) what did he do to accomplish this god like status besides some good replays on TV - no championships. We criticize TM for no hardware, JM provided none for A&M.

He better save that NFL signing bonus for a rainy day fund, I don't think he lasts long in the NFL. Another very good college player but poor match for the NFL. His size will be his downfall.

Sounds like sour grapes man.

Comparing him to Tommie is pointless and I'm not sure why that's even a part of your post, but regardless, you think he is a god by listening to the media because he basically is. On the football field, as an individual talent, we have never seen anything like him before. Ever.

I don't know what you're hearing by listening to the guys on the tv because I have never thought, after listening, that he had won conference and national championships. I had only thought he's an incredible, elite, once-in-a-lifetime football player.

Landlord, just responding to the over the top TV guys from the game. I agree, he is an incredible and elite player - my comparison wt Tommie is the fact that Tommie propelled the whole team towards winning championships and that it wasn't about individual rewards or media hype. The TV guys made it sound like there was noone in JM's league - I think they need to go back to the 1990s and look again.

I'm not going to compare JFF and Tommie, but I will say Tommie didn't have the 108th ranked D in the country to have to overcome.
