Jurgens to Center

Four-Star Recruit
BTN mentioned they talked to Frost about moving around personnel. Mentioned they are planning on moving Jurgens to center. I guess if he can bulk up to 290-300, he would be one athletic center. Thoughts?

I think this is really interesting. How big do they want to get him? 280? I think he could be a solid center because he is really strong and athletic.

Makes a lot of sense.  This O-Line was recruited for a much more traditional pocket protection scheme.  New line needs to be quicker and more athletic.

I think he was bigger in high school but got hurt in basketball breaking an ankle so he's working back up.  He played tight end, D line, linebacker, running back, whatever coach wanted.

Nebraska kid. Tell him, he'll do it.

250 to 300 isn't too hard at his height.  I know.

I'm back down to 255 after lifting again.

Desmond Bland will be the center for the next two years. This gives Jurgens a year to get big and get familiar with the position as well as play backup minutes. Where does this staff see Will Farniok since he was recruited as a center?

@teachercd has a clutch source lol.

They list him at 270. They really need more athletic o-linemen. I didnt watch a lot of ucf but i dis notice their offensive linemen pulled a lot and they haven't this year. With better athletes on the line it will really open up the offense.

They might be overcompensating for how unathletic our current O-line is which is probably limiting the playbook.  They moved Griffin to linebacker and that worked out so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.

They mentioned on Sip & Jake or Sharp & Benning fairly recently that Sean Beckton was continually having to fend off the line coaches trying to get him for OL duty. I guess the line coaches won out. I think it is a good move as long as he is on board with it. Lord knows we need help there and next year is going to be worse due to graduation.

Not a TE in this offense.  Could be a 5 tech but as athletic he is, I think he could be a srid interior OL.  Never thought of him playing in space on either side.  He will be a bigger, more explosive stille.

He's an NFL-type talent at LB. Could be a game breaker at TE. I don't see him at center, but I don't get paid millions of dollars to make those decisions.

Exactly. He can really move. Who is the most athletic center in the NFL? Jason Kelce? They aren't built anywhere near the same way. But, like you said, they know him better than anyone
