Just an observation...

I know there have been and will be many doubts about our past three games, and the upcoming games. All of which is some what reasonable.

But, i'm thinking that Bo hasn't shown everything he's got in his proverbial bag o' tricks just yet. I'm sure there are more than a few things that Mr. Pelini is hanging on to, for a particular situation.

I'm thinking we might have more of a shot, than some folks might think...

...when you were delicious?

Nah, I agree or at least hope so. But we will see in a few days.

I've thought that all along. We really have been pretty vanilla on both sides of the ball, the only exception being the half back pass..which was beautiful. I think you're right walksalone, why give the rest of the big 12 interesting film to watch if you don't have to.

You might be right, but I am most worried about the VT defense even though they don’t look very tough on paper. It will be the toughest D we have faced and might even be the toughest till we get to Oklahoma. If they get lots of pressure on Ganz and he makes bad decisions we could be in for a long one. Lets hope for a good game and a Husker win GBR

I hope you're right. I've always thought doing that was one of the keys to success in college football. Beat down the lesser teams with vanilla packages and bring out the complicated stuff with the better teams. I think Osborne was a master at that.

I'm not totally sure we've been seeing the vanilla defensive package, however. In another thread there was a quote from one of the coaches we played against who commented about all the stunts, etc., that we used on defense. That is a cause for concern when I think about matching our defense against a better offense.

Logic would tell us that Pelini has to develop the fundamentals on defense before he injects the surprise blitzes or other schemes. Fundamentals = Vanilla

Suspect that Watson is doing something similar on offense because this is the first year at NU that he is totally in charge. It appears that the key to beating VT would be a strong running game, which is something that hasn't been proven yet as far as I'm concerned.

GBR

I keep thinking that there might be some things Bo's is keeping in the bag. I still think he can't open up all the things he wants to, unless he has full confidence that his defensive backs can cover receivers one on one. Maybe this is the game he trys it.

GBR!!!

unless he has full confidence that his defensive backs can cover receivers one on one.
GBR!!!
Which by the way...... they cant.
I don't think he has to do much different with the coverage schemes for VT than he has done thus far. VT is not a team that tries to beat you through the air. A lot of 4-3 personnel sets I should think, this means that any real coverage schemes he has will come out a week later for MU. He better have something for those short quick passes MU likes so much. Maybe a more complicated version of the game plan they used on NMS.
