Status update of being actually in the school building.

I have now been here 3 hours.

7:30-7:55: Coffee in the lounge venting about Monday's in-service

7:55-8:10: Hallway supervision (only needed with kids in building)

8:10-8:20: discussed with class on goals for projects today and deadline changed due to "cold day"

8:20-8:45 Shop supervision 

8:45- 9:00: Home room.  Literally said the Pledge and babysat for 10 minutes.

I am currently in the middle of two Study Halls in a row.

I've been here 3 hours, I've only done my "job" for 10 minutes... this is our tax dollars at work...

I did "write" a letter of rec for a student trying to get into college.

And we know these people don’t live in a known flood plain and that they weren’t aware they needed special flood insurance for an eventuality like this?

I am only asking because the linked X didn’t address those issues and they’re sort of important details to determine if those people were wronged or not.

 
Apparently they had one controller, not the usual two. But they also said one in the evenings when traffic is lighter has been the norm.

And Trump blaming DEI would be funny, if it weren’t such a bad situation. Sure, let’s blame DEI initiatives, hinting that under qualified people caused this while the FAA is understaffed by about 3,000 air traffic controllers. It’s a high stress job and they’ve been forced to work OT for seemingly ever. I’ve got a solution- how about they reduce the number of allowed flights to the amount the controllers they do have can handle? Not that it caused this particular accident but it seems like a problem brewing to be understaffed and forcing OT in such a critical job.

So USAID funding got its first spike during the Reagan administration, got another big spike in the first year of the Bush administration before ratcheting back in 2004, followed by steady increases under Obama and Trump before taking a huge spike during the global pandemic.

For some odd reason people here like you keep thinking in partisan terms when bringing this stuff up to me?   I don’t care who was in charge when it was all happening.   I’m for exposing it all and getting rid of the waste.

Yeah, I was hesitant to post this for that particular reason. I figured it was mostly true, because I remember when Clinton did a lot of cutting in his time. Shutting down old military posts and things like that to save money.

Those Clinton-era military base closures aren't quite the same thing, but it's an interesting example of the problem. The Pentagon itself recommended the closure of several military bases it no longer needed and handed the list to Congress. That's where Congresspeople realized how much money those bases brought to their district. So each Congressperson opposed closure of their base, and supported closure of another district's base. By the time it bled into the Bush administration, d!(k Cheney had drafted a list of closures to be based 100% in Democrat districts. 

If the current budget hacking drama involves DOD excesses, I haven't gotten the memo yet. 

BTW.....weren't we saving Just Normal American Utopia for less overtly partisan topics?
