How so? The 3-4 is usually good against the run. Although now that their best DT is gone, that may not be the case for them.

I am no expert but I believe its better against the pass. You can disguise more blitz packages as well. Your front 3 need to be strong as they are usually taking on two blockers. Without a strong front 3 and a bit of depth to rotate in, they will get torn up in the running game.
