Key matchup

In last week's 27-20 double-overtime victory against Iowa State, Taylor completed 36 of 55 passes for 431 yards. The completions and passing yardage totals were Nebraska single-game records.

That's a sign that the Cornhuskers, who struggled in their first year-plus in the West Coast offense, are moving in the right direction. The number he posted Saturday are what the Huskers had been hoping to see from Taylor, who was an NJCAA second-team all-American last year at Butler County (Kan.) College, where he threw for nearly 3,000 yards and 29 touchdowns. In the first three games this season, he completed only 43.8 percent of his passes for 133 yards per game.

Taylor, the son of a former Oklahoma Sooners defensive back, grew up in Norman, Okla., and set Norman High School passing records for career passing yardage and touchdowns. He spent his first college season at Wake Forest.

Tech ranks 19th in the nation in pass defense, giving up 170.8 yards per game. The Red Raiders didn't get their first two interceptions until last week, and one by SS Vincent Meeks helped extinguish Kansas' hopes.

FS Dwayne Slay leads the team in tackles. CB Antonio Huffman limped out of the game early in the second half last week, but CB Chris Parker replaced him and made two good plays early in the fourth quarter on passes at the goal line.

What kind of defense does TT run? Will they try and play man or do they like to switch things up in the defensive backfield? Does anyone know anything about their front 7?

would have to say that the key matchup might be ross and the tech defense. I think the huskers really need to control the clock as much as possible to keep their defense fresh this game more than ever.

I wonder...

We should come up with some sort of a fake screen play, because you know TT is going to be looking for those with our recent success... Maybe like with the TE down the middle, or some sort of misdirection...

just a thought

This was against 3 terrible teams, worse than Nebraska played.

FS Dwayne Slay leads the team in tackles.
Anytime your teams leading tackler is the FS there's problems, but because of the poor teams they have played the other teams have been forced to throw the ball.

To me, that says any of 3 things.

1) A whole whole lot of passes are being caught deep over the middle of the field and/or too many recievers are taking the ball after the catch down the field on post routes.

2) The FS is having to help too much in man pass coverage to shore up poor CB play.

3) The FS is playing way too much time on the line in run protection.

Any one of those is good news for us.
