Keys to the Mizzou game.

What do you think are the keys to the Husker victory? I think that there are only three things we need to do that we haven't demonstrated consistently throughout the last three games.

1. Contain the QB, whether it is Smith or the freshman. The only reason why I didn't include this in the things that we have done consistently is because we really haven't faced a QB this year who has tried to scramble alot.

2. Hold on to the ball and don't throw interceptions (the most important goal).

3. Try to strip the ball or cause a turnover AFTER you have wrapped up your man.

I think both of our lines should play well. I think we win, but I don't feel nearly as confident in this game as I did against Baylor.

I completely agree with your 3 keys to the game. Particularly the part about stripping the ball AFTER wrapping up. I'm all for forcing turnovers but when a reciever is out in the middle of the field and you're the only man between him and the goal ling, stripping the ball probably isn't the first concern. I think our O will do a good job of not turning the ball over so I feel confident in that regard. Brad Smith is what scares me. As I said in another post, when the Baylor QB's got out of the pocket it seemed like they could make some things happen. Brad Smith can buy his recievers some time and I don't know if our corners can stay with their recievers for that long. I'm less concerned with their freshman, I know he can run but if he takes a few shots from our D we may be able to get in his head and make him think twice about tuckin and runnin.

No sloppy tackles

No turnovers, most of all in the redzone

Protect Taylor

Get some takeaways

Easy, it comes down to what every single football game has come down to.

1.) Maintain your blocks

2.) Wrap up you tackles

3.) Dont turn the ball over

I cant think of a single game in which a team did all three of these and still lost. These are the true fundamentals of football, and the most fundamentally sound, regardless of the system that they run, will win 95% of the time.

My keys to winning the game after analyzing the stats

1-Pass defense: Our Pass defense hasn't been able to do much this year. Sure we contained Texas Tech, but that was AFTER the fact our DL and LB's started blitzing. Missouri presents another problem all together. If you blitz and Brad sees a open hole, he won't be hesitant to run. If he runs, there's the chance he throws a pass before he cross the scrimmage line. Our DB's have to stick with their guy at all times

2-I Spy: We need a LB to spy Smith. If we can keep a spy on him at all times, i believe we have a great shot of limiting his dangerous feet.

3-Turnovers:. Nebraska needs to create turnovers plain and simple. 13 turnovers gained (8 interceptions and 5 fumbles) isn't cutting it. We need those turnovers to keep their defense on the field as much as possible and turnovers helps us with that. If we get 2 interceptions and a fumble, i will be more then satisfied.

4-Crowd Noise: Now that ZT has wrapped up his first road game, he needs to understand that Missouri's crowd is going to be hostile. He commented after the game that the crowd noise was a bit of a distraction in the huddle, so that's something i hope is addressed during the week.

5-Not getting behind: We need to draw first blood. We are 5 of 11 since 2002 on the road and 4 of 8 against teams that draw first blood. That's not a good percentage. Last year, Southern Miss drew first blood, we lost. Same for Texas Tech, Kansas St, Iowa St, Oklahoma, and Colorado. The team has shown it can come back from a 21-0 deficit, but do we really need to find that out again? We need to maintain the lead.

Crowd will be a non factor.....this is a morning Game......I hate to say this, but I wait every week for us to just put a whole game together....To blow somebaody out.....this maybe the week

The Tigers are not very good and the fact that they have made this an early game kills the crowd ....we will have a lead early and the crowd will bail at half...never to return

For all the keys to victory cited by y'all....the only Key to Victory is the fact that we have a better team...at every positon....name one player you would swap for???

and lets be real about Brad Smith.....what has he won?

Chase Kauffman is a freshman

Chase Daniels is a freshman.......the talent level is way down in Columbia

Every week the Huskers have made improvements....we will continue the trend with a statement road win over an overrated Tiger team....

Chase Kauffman is a freshman
I know you meant Chase Coffman, so i will let it slide. You are wrong. I would trade Chase for J.B Phillips and Sievers combined any day of the week and twice on sunday.
I would not even consider trading for Kaufmann(don't let it slide...go royals)

,any kid who would attend the U of Misery has some serious emotional baggage....what have they won...and when did they win it........Where are the conference titles...National Championships....where

Kauffman took a look at that mess and said yes....not just yes, but HELL YEAH......that don't sound to smart to me...sounds like a kid who wanted playing time and he was scared to come to a big time school....most of those guys never make it to the games on sunday.......

You trade for guys like that...I will just keep my Huskers

thanx and good day sir

I highly doubt that Coffman looked at Mizzou and said "oh they don't win why don't I go there". Isn't he from Missouri? I think that explains why he chose them. I agree with Nameless and I would take him over Phillips any day. They also have a couple dangerous recievers that I wouldn't mind swapping for.

Keys to Victory over MU are pretty much keys to any win.

1. We need around 50 total rushes from Ross, Lucky, and Glenn to pound Missouri.

2. Taylor needs to hit his open receivers. He missed some on Sat. night which cost NU a couple of TD's and kept the game closer than it should have been.

3. DB's must continue to improve and keep Brad Smith in the pocket cause he's dangerous on his feet.

4. Remember this is MU where games are always a struggle. I Look for special team to make a difference for the big red.

I also saw those open recievers that ZT missed on Saturday. I counted 3 that could have resulted in big gains, possibly touchdowns. However, on all of those plays, he was looking for his primary reciever and when he realized that he wasn't open he hit the check down reciever just before he got hit. So in that regard i'm not upset about missing the open recievers.

Let me see.....Kauffmann looked at Mizzou and said"this looks like a winner"C'mon....you guys are drooling over a kid who has done what?.......what big games has he had?....LOL LOL

as far as the other wide recievers......I'm guessing Coffee and Equoo equoo(lol)....keep those guys too.

Keys to the Game.....Next you boots will be dragging out Broderick Thomas' red and white teething keys....OUR HOUSE! ! ! ! !.....................you guys are the Keys of the game our house gang.

The key to containing Smith is not a spy. We didnt spy on him last year. It is interior pressure. We need to have a great game from our tackles, or blitz effectively to cover for them. Smith is dangerous when he steps up in the pocket and has a chance to run through the line, not around it. Its all about LeKevin and Titus. Both has a great game against Missou last year, even if it didnt show in the stat column, and the collapsing pocket was proof of it.
