Things haven't been easy for Cooper since arriving at Nebraska. After a redshirt season, his football career seemed ready to burst open as a freshman, when he started four games and had a touchdown catch.
Baseball, too, appeared promising. The center fielder was drafted in the fifth round by the Los Angeles Angels out of high school, but turned down a lucrative signing bonus to come to NU. He played right away for the Huskers, and while he posted just a .229 average, he started 20 games and was a productive contributor.
