the part where he says Nebraska can begin "inching their way back into the national scene.

Jeff (Omaha): After seeing the pounding that Nebraska put on Colorado would you say that they are closer than many people thought to being the Nebraska of old?

Kirk Herbstreit: (3:32 PM ET ) Let's not get carried away with the manhandling an un-enthused Buffs team. Don't get me wrong, that was a great day for Nebraska and QB Zac Taylor, but I think someone forgot to tell Colorado they were playing to get to the Big 12 title game. If NU can go to a bowl game, possibly the Alamo, and continue the momentum with an impressive outing against the likes of Iowa or Michigan, an 8-4 finish is the time to start talking about Nebraska inching back toward the glory days. To have back-to-back, national TV wins to end the season could create a lot of confidence and momentum in recruiting season and into spring ball. And with as many players as the Huskers have coming back. that bowl game becomes a must-win for the Huskers.

Gotta agree. Kirk was dead on with what he said. Lets not get carried away untill we see how they do in the bowl game. I expect a similiar beating with Callahan having 3+ weeks to prepare for whoever it is.

I think Kirk gave a very fair, unbiased opinion from an outside perspective. I don't think that we should feel that this team has arrived by getting back to 8-4 and an Alamo Bowl win. Win the Big 12 North, then Big 12 Title, then BCS Bowl, then we'll be back on top. That doesn't mean we can't be excited by what we have seen at points this season and what we might see in the bowl game. :thumbs
