KSU recruit kills kid

The student convicted of killing a young man was offered a scholarship by Bill Snyder. After the public outcry was so strong, Bill Snyder was forced to back down and revoked the scholarship offer in an unprecedented public statement that stopped just short of calling Raines a liar and naming him by name--an NCAA violation.

KSU situation

Completely screwed up situation..

But this is not so much a Kansas State issue as it is about the entire culture of recruiting. Raines' case was public record. So was that of Miami's Willie Williams, whose off-field conduct and legal problems spurred sweeping NCAA recruiting changes last year.
In their own ways, both Kansas State and Miami pleaded ignorance. But any recruiter with modem could have, with a minimal amount of effort, known the backgrounds of each player.

The coaches should have known his situation better and Snyder should have never commented publicly on his thoughts. And as for the kid, maybe the fact that you can't play major college football is part of the punishment of killing someone.
