Let's remain in the realm of reality, OK?
Yes, let's... I'll skip the statement from DiStefano as that said absolutely nothing to support your point.
It wasn't that they were throwing stuff on the field only, they were pelting the Nebraska section with whatever they could get their hands on. Do you really not know this or are you just pretending not to know what happened that night? Either way, your level of credibility is taking a serious hit by downplaying this, and further by trying to cast Colorado as the aggrieved party here by saying they weren't given enough credit for their efforts to stop the situation.
What you're alleging is impossible. Let's employ a little visual aid, shall we?

I call this "crude but... eh, whatever." Obviously, this picture represents Folsom Field. The X in this picture represents the section of students that was cleared out, with each s representing another student section. The O's represent the highest concentration of Husker fans in the stadium. Obviously, as with any other game, there are going to be random Husker fans scattered throughout the stadium, but this is where the Huskers are concentrated. In other words, this is "Nebraska's section" as you put it.
So what you're saying here is that the Colorado students, ALL of which were standing on the wobbliest bleachers in all of college football, managed to throw garbage from one corner of a football field to the exact opposite corner of the field? Gimme a minute to bust out my Pythagorean Theorem... and gimme a minute to realize that I no longer own a calculator that does square roots... okay, after my anti computations, I can conclude with every degree of certainty that the distance you're suggesting is PREPOSTEROUS. Good lord, the CU students would be lucky to hit you from that distance if they were firing potato cannons. What in the world are you talking about? The fans near the Nebraska section are all 30+ years old, I have a hard time believing that they were lobbing garbage at you guys hand over fist, or is that what you're alleging?
Quoting the Colorado Springs Gazette... The frustrating thing is the Buffaloes had the talent to win at least one, if not both, of their past two games. That disappointment and, moreover, the embarrassment, boiled over into the stands, too.
Fans in the student section threw various objects on to the field, enough that officials asked that Sections 115 and 116 be cleared before the game would resume.
There was a 10-minuteplus delay in the game midway through the fourth quarter as both teams cleared the field.
Security escorted select students out of the stadium. Other students argued with police officers. And others continued to throw cups, water bottles and fruit on the field.
Then with 6:48 remaining, a man wearing a gold shirt with black lettering jumped over the southern end zone fence and ran the length of the football field, taking off his shirt about halfway. Upon reaching the north end of the field, a security guard stopped the man.
Moments later, the shirtless man was alone and quickly walking away from the stadium and the security guard, proving that the security staff at Folsom Field was as porous as the Buffaloes' secondary.
What you've pointed out here is exactly what I said. Where's the discrepancy? If the refs were the ones responsible for clearing out those sections that really doesn't change much of my argument, other than the fact that it's now the refs that were treating CU students differently than every other student section in the country, instead of the CU administration. Potatoes potaatos. They threw garbage on the field, same thing that happens all over the country every season (like I said before, Mississippi and Alabama have already had this happen this season), but CU fans were kicked out whereas other refs did nothing.
If you're really up at arms about the streaker... uh, I don't know what to tell you. That happens thousands of times all across the country if you count highschool games, I really don't know why you included that into your attempt at slander.
A few water bottles and other debris rained down from the CU student section in the fourth quarter, forcing officials to order hundreds of fans removed for the final 10 minutes of the game. By then, CU boosters with calmer heads were already heading to the exits, their team down 27-3 and showing no signs of life.
This adds nothing to your argument. There's a MASSIVE leap here taken by the journalist that wrote this. "A FEW water bottles and other debris rained down... FORCING officials to order hundreds of fans removed".
In other news, and area man sprained his ankle over the weekend, FORCING him to have his leg amputated. The action simply doesn't fit the reaction.
There's more in this article about the CU team leaving their warmup area and heading toward midfield to talk trash to the Husker team. Maybe that's what prompted the students to act up - they figured that if the Colorado coaches were going to allow their team to behave that way, they would be allowed to behave however they wanted.
This is just stupid. It's a rivalry game, if you really want to get on CU's players for talking some smack before the game, I'd suggest you draw and quarter Mark Richt immediately.
The sad reality is that this incident wasn't the first time this has happened. For over a decade these things have been going on every time the Huskers play in Colorado. It's just that this time it got so out of hand that your own security had to remove your students. How are you defending that? How are you guys the victim in that?
Hey Condescending Johnson, I am not painting CU as a victim, I am defending my school from being called a villain, which it is not.
1. During a rout, CU students threw garbage on the field.
2. CU students kicked out of said rout.
3. During a rout, Mississippi students threw garbage on the field.
4. Mississippi students remain in stadium.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 anytime students anywhere other than Boulder act out of hand at a game, for any future cases that may arise within Boulder... well refs, you know what to do.
So here's an idea from me to you: Get off your high horse and take a big fat whiff of the crap your program has been standing in for the past 6 years. Don't act like your fans are immune to bad behavior, ESPECIALLY after this season. CU students may have thrown crap at the field, but I'd challenge you to find stories about a CU defensive coordinator receiving death threats. I'd challenge you to find stories about CU fans telling their players to scrape the buffalo off of their helmets. I'd challenge you to find stories about CU fans booing THE CHILDREN of CU's coaches. Best fans in college football? From personal experience, I'd say you're great fans... but even better frauds.
