Lack of intensity/emotion

By the way....

In the 300 page playbook, is there a running play that isn't a stretch play?

Just wondering...

 
Alright, Defensively, wow.

We start the game with a 3 down linemen, and 5 LB set. Thats a decent start against the Mizzou spread offense... Try and close up the middle of the field. I can understand that. They put up 20 points in the first half, And i'm waiting to see what adjustments are made at halftime.

3rd quarter, same exact thing. Literally no difference. Same zone from the safeties and LBs, same man Coverage from the corners, same everything. Why, Cosgrove, Why? Are you to retarded to figure out that your defensive plan obviously won't work, or too stubborn to admit it was a poor base defense and change it?

Its ridiculous, this is the first game i have really actually noticed it. Have we done it in any other games? All the games? I just don't know what to think anymore.

It was like the defensive staff too the week off, and though we could just play 3 dline + zone the whole day.

That is what upset me.

There was absolutely no attack. They took the balls away from the blackshirts.

I think the problem with the emotion and intensity has to be the coaching. The thing that really struck me was the play calling in the 2nd half. Running the ball to eat up the clock. In my opinion, you weren't completely out of the game at that point. Mizzou has certainly blown bigger leads with less time. The players gotta feel like the coaches don't believe in them with that sort of play calling. Seems pretty similar to the play calling Callahan employed against USC last year.

there is some blame that goes on the players. after the usc bowman refused to wear his balckshirt and no one followed suit. we need leadership.

but yes they coaches are the major problem. they have lost this team

 
It's like no one even wanted to be out there. Especially on defense.

I don't know how you can't be excited to play in a game like that. I don't care who the coaches are. Isn't that what the players want? To play in big hype games like that? If not, they probably shouldn't be playing.

 
Yeah, I agree, it comes from coaching but there is some element that rests on the shoulders of the players as well. The whole Bowman thing with others not removing their Blackshirts is an insight into that.

Leadership from some of our seniors has been a huge thing for us this season, and something that has been missing in previous. Guys like Rucker and Pig Brown (cheap shot aside) are just playing with so much heart that it elevates the play of the rest of the team.
