United Kingdom -- Cabbie Tom Matthews reckons cops are pulling a fast one — after they accused him of speeding at 420MPH.

Tom was in his 12-year-old Vauxhall Cavalier when he was snapped by a speed camera.

But when notice of a £60 fine and three penalty points arrived, the recorded speed was 420mph — in a 30mph zone.

Tom, 34, said: “I drive an old Cavalier — not a jumbo jet. According to this, I’ve broken the land speed record.”

Tom was clocked as he drove a woman home in Newport, Gwent, at 2.20am.

He added: “There has been a printing error. If they insist I was going that fast I should be a Grand Prix driver — I’m wasted in taxis.”

Dad of one Tom will fight the penalty notice.

Mid and South Wales Safety Camera Partnership apologised and blamed “an employee processing error."

The new ZO7 Corvette was introduced in England much to the dismay of the local constabulary.

I would frame that ticket. Your friends would be pretty jealous. I don't know about a Vuxhall Cavalier, but the only way a Chevy Cavalier would hit 420 is if it was strapped to the Space Shuttle.

And even then, by the time it got over 100 mph, it would just explode into a million pieces.

Anyone else concerned that he decided to throw out there that:

"I'm wasted in taxi's"

Hopefully he isn't a taxi driver, otherwise I guess it's just pretty normal. Better to be wasted in taxi's than wasted in Cavaliers travelling 420 mph.
