Late Notice Vacation

Five-Star Recruit
My parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this June. My Mom decided she wants treat all the family (30 people total) to a week at a resort. We need to wait until all the kids are done with baseball and softball, so we are thinking the last weekend in July or the first week in August. Anyone have any ideas where we can go. We did Okoboji a couple of years ago, so a similar place (with a lake, golf close by, other attractions) would be acceptable, but finding a place for all of us to stay at or near the same place in Okoboji this late in the year isn't gong to happen. Lake of the Ozarks is on the table, but I'm just looking for suggestions.

I have taken a group of 24 golfers to Bella Vista, AR for a long weekend. There are 7 courses in the village, with reasonable rates so the golf is covered. There are a couple of lakes with pontoon rentals also in the village. Within an hours drive, there is a casino in Joplin for the adults, shopping and museums in Fayetteville or antiquing/crafts in Eureka Springs. There is hiking and river rafting in the Missouri and Arkansas state parks within a half hour drive. And a good day trip is Branson, a couple of hours NE. Bella Vista is about 3:15 south of the KC airport to give you an idea on distance. The best thing I like about BV is the availability of homes that are available to rent. The service I use is great at being able to fit the number in the group to homes with enough bedrooms to cover you and can get you all into close proximity to each other. My rule of thumb on the rental home cost is about $35 - $50 per bedroom/per night, less than hotels and with all the amenities of home (privacy, televisions, internet access, full kitchens with utensils, grills, etc).

Estes Park or Summit county Colorado.......
I'll second the Summit County idea, especially in the middle of summer when the rest of the Plains is baking away. If the retirees all go to AZ and TX for the winter, Summit County would be a great place to be in the heat of the summer. I like Estes too but it can be a complete zoo in the summer. Spent a couple of days in Summit County last July and it was really quiet plus the room rates were very reasonable compared to going in the middle of ski season with lots of choices. Plenty to do in the area and the women could easily spend a day or two at the outlet mall in Silverthorne.

We found a place on Lake of the Ozarks that can accommodate all 30 of us and it was open when we could go. Thanks for all the replies. The Bella Vista sounds like a place I'll keep in mind for our next big family outing.
