Lavonte David is a stud

He's legit.

And still learning. Wait til he's 100% mental as well as physical. Then we can stunt and blitz him. And his turnovers will go up to cuz he won't be thinking at all. Man, he's a good one

He is a great one.

Another encouraging point: People who have seen next years recruit Daimon Stafford play have said that he is an impact player the level of David. Awesome!

I just wonder if there is a place for him in the NFL? I'd think he could definitely play safety, but I don't think he matches up well as a LB at the next level.
I've been wondering the same thing. I think back to that Cody Grimm (Russ Grimm's son) from Va Tech that got drafted last year in the 7th. He played a hybrid LB/S role and he was a tackling machine too. He was about the same weight too if I remember correctly. If the pros have a place for him I can't imagine LaVonte getting passed up on with how good of a nose for the the ball he has.

I've been one of those questioning his weight. Let me tell you, I am ready to put that issue to rest. He is a man.

He did get tossed around a few times last night (my main concern coming into Big 12 play), but I'll take a few plays like that in exchange for all the plays he makes.

I'm sure he'll add 10-15 lbs over winter conditioning and I doubt he loses a step. Kid is an absolute beast out there.

Taylor has "it" on offense and I think David has "it" on defense, nose for the football, sure tackler, perfect fit for Pelini's defense.

The guy is great and he is a difference maker ....... not many plays are high impact from date ..... (Not counting the current QB)

David was great last night. Finished with 16 total tackles.

However, as for the Farley comparisons, I wouldn't put him on that level quite yet. Farley (and that entire 1995 defense) was NASTY, they were flying all over the field recklessly, and Farley in particular had a way of forcing lots of turnovers, and even had a way of scoring on a lot of them. David definitely has the physical tools to get there though, and Farley didn't really start his 1995 tear until about this point of the season.

Thomas outweights David by nearly 20 pounds according to each schools respective website, and David physically dominated Thomas all night. Very impressive.

the dude has got that drive and passion... the so called immeasurable that a lot of pro teams look for... the kind of team who draft 'smart' and not on hype.. i could see him having loads of success in the right system at the next level... the kids only been at if for how long now??? can't see what the future holds... like when my chich comes home with a fat bag of new victoria secrets 'gear'

Some days I wonder why they have designer lingerie. It's just going to end up on the floor anyways.

...and the scarey part is that Bo says he is still learning the system. He is definitely an animal... :bonesflag:
PLEASE...don't get me wrong here! I Love (yes, with a capital "L") Lavonte. But he was a front runner with Fisher and Compton, Whaley and Martin (whom I also enjoy) were 2nd string / "or" players according to our defensive geniuses in the Pelini's.

I know Fisher is done, but how scary will it be when Compton and David are behind the defensive front. We will have speed and size along with a player (Compton) that has the defense down pat. This will allow David "to play" and have Will be the "brains".

I would not want to run a credit card through that DEFENSE!!!!!
