Team HuskerBoard
Player: Kelvin Sheppard

Hometown: Stone Mountain, GA

Position: LB

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 218

40 time: 4.7

Visit Date:

Scholarships offered: Over 10 including: Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Nebraska, Southern Miss, Tennessee

Favorites: Florida, LSU, Tennessee, Maryland

Rankings/Stars:

Rivals: #23/ :star :star :star

Bid Red Report: #54/ :star :star :star

Assessing the talent: Great looking LB prospect, he has a 305 pound bench press, a 415 squat and a 280 pound power clean. Also very fast. Awesome on defense, a sideline to sideline player who recorded 106 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, four sacks and two interceptions as a linebacker. He can play TE, but all the coaches want him as a LB.

Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 2% The Huskers have an opening here, it may not be large but there’s something. If Georgia offered all bets might be off, but Callahan has contacted his family, and Sheppard holds the Huskers amongst his leaders. He plans on making a visit, lets see if this holds true.

Georgia has officially offered, but claims to have these Favorites: Florida, Nebraska, LSU, Tennessee, Maryland.

Jordan is leading the recruiting for NU.

And he thinks at LSU, Tennessee or Florida he wouldn't face competition?

It's a bit of a compliment he thinks that highly of our LB's, but also signifies two things. One, someone has been in his ear feeding him that BS. Two, he's afraid of competition which in the end, no matter how many stars he has, makes me not want him at all. If he thinks that lowely of himself that he cannot compete, then good riddance.

Bingo.

Thanks but No Thanks.

I just think he wanted to stay closer to home. Sometimes kids are a little embarrased to admit it.
personally i'd rather admit i wanted to "stay close to home", which seems common and very understandable. as opposed to the implications (see BW's post) that accompany "they have too much depth".

Not sure you could call going to LSU staying close to home. If that was the case, he would have committed to Georgia which offered him rather then to a team 2 states away
