Weather conditions, specifically wind, seemed to be a frequent point cited by Rhule this past year. He mentioned more than once that the staff needed to build an offense that can be durable regardless of conditions.
I don’t care about wind because this a recruiting thread. And we are talking about recruiting rankings lolz

And his claims seem to be overblown.
Our poor kicking for several years might suggest otherwise.

Sure, but wind impacts both teams.
Correct, and Rhule has already realized it. That lesson may not be fully realized yet for the West Coast teams coming in.

My response was in answer to your comment how the Big Ten West teams are in for a rude awakening by the West Coast four joining this year. I simply pointed out one (of many) factor that those four teams/coaches may not fully recognize yet. I suspect there is a Frost-like arrogance confidence that a precision passing/speed offense can work anywhere. Though it may work, I believe that it could be quite a challenge for more than one or two of the new guys.

Back to the topic at hand, Mooberry looks like good clay for the coaches to work with and mold. Reminds me of a lean Sean Fisher/Luke Reimer. With some weight room work, he could be an excellent linebacker for us.

Dude, coaches pretty much prepare for everything.  Trust me, they have a vague idea that it might be windy in Lincoln in November.

Vegas did this study a few years  back about weather impacting games/lines...they basically said it doesn't change much at all.

Knowing about it and being able to adjust your offense to it are two different things. Frost never seemed to conquer it and would instead unintentionally scheme his way out of wins. Again, I was just pointing out a single factor, but I suspect that the new schools will experience a rocky period within a few years of being new members like every other new addition to conferences. If nothing else, weather should be considered by anyone playing the new EA Sports College football game

And we had a ton of good kickers over the years despite the wind.

So good players do better than not-as-good players.  Weird.

So I grew up a Chi Bears fan and pretty much every home playoff game it was the same

"Oh those sissy 49ers have to come to Chicago and play in the COLD, they have no chance to win"

Guess what, the 49ers won!

It just really is not the impact that fans think it will be.

I have never looked it up but I would BET that the biggest impact on a game is start time and not as in a night game...but a good team...going on the road to play at 11am vs a crappy team with no fans in the stands, no build up not hype.  You end up with the good team starting slow because it feels like a scrimmage and next think you know...you have a close game at half.

Yes, good teams and players will overcome obstacles.  If your talent alone is enough, great! However, if it's not, you may be in for a dogfight at Purdue's pasture of a field, in the cold at a Michigan State, Minnesota, or Wisconsin, and in the wind tunnel of many stadiums.

Point being if your offense heavily relies on precision timing, sharp cuts, deep throws, etc. Your players/offense must be able to adjust when it's less than ideal conditions. We could not seem to do so under Riley or Frost, in part because Frost's scheme could not consistently slow down to sit on a lead and hold the ball for long drives. PJ Fleck has seemingly mastered that where once his team gets a 2-score lead, they win at an impressive clip. Therefore,  weather alone will not be the only factor in deciding games, but to believe that it can certainly play a part would be ignorant.

Fleck is under 500 in conference play

And their Non-con games are not played in bad weather.
And yet he's 6-1 against us despite our 'superior' recruiting on paper. Good coaches know when to play to their advantages

@Mods, feel free to remove all the non-Mooberry focused chatter, it's clear that it has derailed from a side comment response.
