Leach to coach Maryland...

The cruel irony of all of this is Ralph Friedgen was named ACC Coach of ths Year this year. Maryland has publicly announced he will not be the coach next year. The Terps were 8-4 this season after going 2-9 last year.

Guess Maryland wants to take it to the next level and they think Mike Leach is the guy to get them there. Friedgen will get hired somewhere else, most likely another D1 school one would think.

I think Leach will be a solid fit in that conference but yeah Maryland firing their coach after such an improvement...I thought SP's firing of Solich was bad...

 
To me this seems very bizarre. Franklin the supposed head coach in waiting already jetted to Vandy. Now Friedgen is told he is done. Im wondering if Franklin knew what was going on and left for Vandy, knowing he wouldnt get to succeed Friedgen.

I agree this is not the way a coach normally goes out. It is a bold move by Maryland, but if they get Leach I think it will be a good move.

 
this guy made lubbock texas relevant....im sure he'll do fine in maryland.

i think its a good move. he should be able to attract a few prospects. i honestly thought he would have been a better fit in miami. just seemed to fit his personality. but good for him. glad to see hes back working somewhere

 
Considering it comes from orangebloods.com.....take it at 50/50. (Remember Texas to the Pac-10)-----In other words Chip Brown and co. lost all cred with that saga.

Leach will do fine if he goes to maryland. Start recruiting Florida...and a plus....you're in the ACC!!!!

 
(Friedgen done as coach) Leach is going to be officially announced in an hour or so. It's been a done deal for over a week now.

Edit: Friedgen was fired at the 3:00pm announcement, but Leach was not announced as the new coach. So much for my great ACC source with insider info. Ha ha!

there has to be a lot more to this story that the general public is not yet aware of.

the smoke stinks and firing someone definitely doesnt waft it away.
