Leaving for the NFL early

3rd and long

There have been a couple of threads talking about Ameer leaving early for the NFL.

While I don't think he would/should, don't think he probably has the NFL scouts salivating, I think Randy Gregory might have the scouts doing just that.

Is there a rule regarding when a player can come out?

With his size and speed(which the numbers based NFL are going to love) I think he is the player we need to be most worried about losing.l

I believe you have to have been in college ball for 3 years. You can go after your sophmore year but only if you are a redshirt sophmore.

Technically, it's you have to be out of high school for 3 years to be eligible to declare for the NFL draft. Whether those years are spent as a playing, redshirt, JUCO, or doing anything else.

So if it is after your third year of college ball, he played JUCO last year, then he could go after next season?

If he plays next year as well as or better than this year, I think he's a lock to go. I could see him going very high in the draft.

Gregory has been out of high school for 3 years, he could go after this season.

I dont think it will matter. Bo has kept a solid track record of keeping guys around for their full college eligibility. If Bo were to leave though.....

Gregory would be somewhere around a late 4th round pick were he to leave now. Has the potential to be a first rounder, especially in a 3-4. I'd love to have him on the Eagles.

Ameer has to be looking long and hard at leaving. You gotta cash that ticket if it comes. What happens if he blows a knee next year or some other career ending injury? Ameer's stock is high right now, it would be wise to think about it.

Kiper said (As per Sam's article) that RG44 should return for another year. I agree with him.

Mel Kiper predicted Ameer as a third round pick last week. Honestly, I don't see him getting higher than that were he to stay. So it may be in his best interest to leave.
