Let the sellout streak end

It's just my opinion Polo. and I respect yours. And to me, what Shatel is saying here is a bit assenine to me. Not because he wrote it. But that becuase it may very well be depressingly true. I am not a proponent of beer in the stadium during the game. You have hours to drink before. You have hours to drink after. You can go 3 1/2 without. Yes, this is one of them "a few asshats ruins it for everyone" ideals. And drinking before a game may put of this thought that what good is no beer in the stadium doing? But why poor gas on the fire?

Having experience with how the University of Nebraska handles alcohol, I have a hard time believing it would ever happen, and on the off chance it did, I would feel for the students, as they would be checked endlessly while few else would.

HOWEVAH

Should it happen, I would love it. You're correct, it's only 3.5 hrs, but I would have a few domestos, and happily pay what I'm sure would upwards of $9 for it. Logistically, I can't see that stadium churning out 8+ beers to a person, the amenities just simply aren't capable (which is a discussion in it's own right).

I think if anything what has become apparent during this whole thing is that North and South Stadium at the top are not desirable seats.

As I said before, make them desirable. Sell them at the same price as now, but give them seats like they have in Club seats. Give those seats a special name. Build a special concession area up there. It will take some seats away, but who cares? It makes those areas more special, as well as wider.

As I said way before. If there were ever a true and honest threat to the sellout streak. They'll widen all seats around. "EVERYONE GETS TWO EXTRA INCHES!! YAY!!" Everyone will cheer! Or they do as I proposed and build a section that has less seats but has more amenities.

Either way, I think it's honestly cool to see that some people are finally able to get season tickets. My dad tried to get some in the 90's. No chance. Never tried again until last year, when they advertised and I said "hey, let's jump on these!" We ended up with front row seats in the 600 section. If you look at it, there are tons of people who wanted season tickets that now have that opportunity. To me, that's pretty cool. There will be tons a first time season ticket holders at these games!

Either way you look at it, the sellout streak isn't going anywhere, they'll cut down on some seating in some way to maintain it, no alcohol would be involved.

Sorry for potato.
Never be sorry for potato.

Dear Mod Overlords,

May I table a new poll thread concerning beer sales at Memorial? Let's poll the board about beer inside the Sacred Hallowed Grounds our Husker Forefathers bestowed upon their lineage.

i am surprised you feel this way given you strong advocacy for personal responsibility.

Written about the possible end to Michigan's 251-sellout streak, but applicable to NU's situation: http://m.thepostgame.com/blog/road-saturday/201406/college-football-fan-stadium-students-business-tv-ncaa-michigan-tickets
I still think most of this goes away for both Nebraska and Michigan once they're both consistently top 15 again.
I agree. Like I said, demand will skyrocket, and the waitlist will quickly replenish if we win something of substance and show some consistent competence in many aspects that we've been lacking. Now, this isnt an indictment on Bo, though he hasnt done himself or the program any favors. He just happens to be the coach when what is now 15 years since the last conference title and over a decade of mediocrity on top of TWO stadium/seating expansions is starting to wear on what was already a relatively small population to generate a local fanbase from.

One things for sure and always has been. The sellout streak should be very thankful Nebraska football is pretty much the "only show in town"-so to speak.

Hmmm, there are now letters being sent to boosters and season ticket holders that the Miami game will probably not be available on a single game basis.

In other words, buy season tickets if you want to go to that game.........

Its the prize home game of the season. My common sense told me this would be the case 6 months ago.
