A couple of thoughts. First of all, I'm getting really sick and tired of people using Solich recruits as an excuse. Last year, I kind of bought it until Solich recruits did so well at the NFL Combine's. The receivers for the most part, I believe are mostly BC recruits. The sack leader in D1 (up to last week anyway) was a Solich recruit. Most of the impact players on defense this year are Solich recruits. Our one bright spot on offense (Ross) is a Solich recruit.I thinki t's time to put Beck and Lucky in along with Glenn alot
We are seeing the results of Frank Solich's weak recruiting classes...we are 2 years away from being good...why waste the game experience on guys like taylor who will not be around when we start winning
There is nothing I have seen so far this year that makes me believe that Taylor is goin to get this team into the End zone with any kind of regularity
Taylor has a weak arm and he seems to miss obvious running situations...he can take a 12 yard keeper and turn it into an incomplete pass
I don't see us beating KU or CU
we might ....and I mean might beat KSU...and that will be an ugly game with the defense and special teams deciding it
6- and 5....if we are lucky....we will lose our bowl game and post a 6 and 6 recored
This Team is Horrible....the O-line is really thin and Murtha and the rest of the new guys look really green agin decent talent
We should have seen this coming, I guess I'm as guilty as anyone, you see the N on the Helmet and you think there is more talent than there is
When we lost Octavien we took a huge hit...The defense lacks a speed backer with a nose for the ball
When Frank Starting Posting classes ranked in the 40's for three years, it left the program bare....it's like we put ourselves on probation....The Missouri Tigers have been in the top 30 for 4 strait years and they got better talent than we do....so does OU.....Cu has it although after this year they will take a huge step down.....Only ISU and KU have been as poor as Nebraska when it comes too recruiting.....We need a top 20 class this year nad Next....If BC is still around for 08
then he might get back to the Big 12 title game
I can't see this team getting back to the Champ Game until 08
that really sounds bad, but how can you argue with the facts...they are clear and not indispute.
This team lacks speed at WR....Depth and Skill at O-line....we have NO TE to speak of......and our RB AND QB"S are really young
The Defense lacks speed at LB. the secandary is decent but it tends to wear down and lose focus......the D-line is decent but they get pushed around way too much
WE NEED MORE SPEED AND DEPTH
I would love for someone to tell me where I'm wrong because I'm looking at a team who will barely win 6 games.
We knew Herian was going to be a long shot at returning this year after last year's Mizzou game. However, we didn't go out and get a really good tight end through juco or incoming freshmen. This was not Solich's call. Last year, the OL was a big surprise to the good side. This year, the OL is a big surprise to the bad side. Murtha got burnt big time on the opening drive and didn't see a lot of playing time the rest of the half. I know our incoming players are young and green, but a lot of other teams are making the best of their freshman (Penn State, Texas, OU, etc.).
I don't know how the rest of the season unfolds. I'm eating crow right now and paying out big time for the OU loss. I thought KU would be a cake walk, but now I'm not thinking so. I think we lose to CU for sure. The other two on the schedule are a toss up. I would not be surprised to be 6-5 or 5-6 at the end of the season with the way we're playing. However, the Big 12 North is particulary soft this year. There was no reason we shouldn't have been in the hunt to play in the championship game. Those hopes right now seem increasingly slim unless CU falls hard in the next 3 games.
I find it amazing how everyone was lauding Taylor at one point this season. However, everyone was lauding Dailey after the spring game last year. I don't think Taylor's arm is particularly week, he just doesn't have enough time to throw a long ball. In terms of the running situations, I guess I'm not going to say he's missing them. Last year, the coaching staff didn't want Dailey running much because we didn't have a good backup. I think the staff doesn't want Taylor running much for the same reason. When he has run, he's been effective. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Taylor is a bandaid QB. Nothing more nothing less. He's showed tremendous heart and courage, but he wasn't brought in here being tagged the next Montana or things of that nature. It will be simply amazing if Beck doesn't have to play some in the next 3 games because I just can't see Taylor not getting hurt if he continues to get pummeled as he has the last 2 games.
We probably don't make it to the Big 12 title game this year. However, we had just as good a shot at it as anyone. The biggest disappointment this year has to be T A&M. They have been taken to the woodshed this year by some pretty bad teams (ISU). OU is a better team than advertised. Their 3 losses come to teams with a combined record of 21-1. I don't think we should be too shook up over losing to them. The Mizzou game is really the only game we should be hanging our head over especially seeing how Mizzou did against KU. It's just one game at a time from here on out. We're still playing to be bowl eligible. There's still a lot to work for!
