I'll talk about the A&M game because I don't remember if I watched the game in 1997 (I was 5 and if I did, I don't remember my reaction). Anyway...
Typical 2006 Nebraska offense. Run the ball down the opponents' throat, get a two touchdown lead, then inexplicably stop running the ball. The North was up for grabs and I wanted to see it wrapped up that day so that we could just focus on beating the crap out of Colorado in two weeks (a game I would be at and something we did not do). A&M figured out at some point in the second half that if they ran to the outside, that no one would contain Stephen McGee (QB) and if by some chance they did, they'd pitch it out to Goodson (RB) who would outrun the secondary who had no training in open-field tackling. We go late in the game and I somehow am able to will hard enough for Barry Turner to put his paw up and swat a kick. I'm excited and my heart is going a million miles an hour. Our WRs had played terrible up to this point. Purify was dropping passes left and right, Swift was out hurt, and Peterson wasn't playing too terribly great. When your throwing passes in a two-minute drill to Dan Erickson, something's up. Luckily, Zac makes enough plays (especially that 4th down rollout to Peterson right over the head of an A&M defender) to get us down the field. One roughing the passer penalty later. It's :26 and 8 yards out. Fade route underthrown a bit and the rest is history. I do remember A&M getting a little hook and lateral play going that got them to about midfield with :01 left and then Carriker sacked McGee to win and I was able to breathe easy again.
