Let's see how USC reacts...

I don't know if we need to go to the no huddle offense. In the first half today, it seemed like we were rotating players in and getting out of the huddle within three or four seconds. It was a pretty good pace with new players coming in to execute. I think that what we did today showed that we can control the tempo and control the clock.

They'll be prepared, but the routes our WR's run in that mode are hard to defend IMO.

We did the same thing against La Tech. We'll do the same thing all year.

I don't know if anyone caught it, but Arkansas defeated Utah State 20-0. Why do I bring that up?

Because all of a sudden the thrashing that USC gave Arkansas last week doesn't look so impressive. Especially when you consider Arkansas had five turnovers and a lot of USC's scoring drives started in Arkasnas territory.

I'm not saying USC isn't over-rated - far from it. I am saying that, given the Arkansas-Utah State score, it's hard to call them world beaters when the only team they played beats Utah State by only 20-0.

Just a thought...

We could win at USC, but I think they are the team we are building to be and we're not quite at that level yet. Getting there, though.

If we can get some big plays and maybe shock them a bit, we could do some damage.

I love how this game is setting up. It's been awhile -- too long -- where there's been this kind of excitement and anticipation going into a game. It's especially gratifying for those of us who have been supportive of the program as it has struggled on its way back to national prominence.

A win at USC will give the Huskers the gravitas they once enjoyed on a national level. How huge would a win be at the storied Coliseum?

Some :asshat over on MSNBC had this to say:

"If you take away the TD that the officials allowed on the pitch from Vince Young when his knee was already down ... who wins 3 national championships in a row? USC. I do not to this day know how that was allowed. Everyone nationwide saw it, Dan Fouts and Keith Jackson saw it, everyone at the Rose Bowl saw it except the Zebras. In my eyes, SoCal was and still is the national champs. Something should be done about that injustice and make the correct decision."

Let's just hope all the players and everyone else are still living in the past and thinking they are the best. Yes, Mychael - I am sure they will reverse the call that irks you soo much - after all, the clock on that game only expired, ummm about 9 months ago. Bad calls (if this was one) happen in most games - the officials CAN'T see everything. Usually, the bad call is minor - a missed holding call - while sometimes it's major - as in, ohh huge pass interference or what Mychael describes above. No matter what - the time to take care of that "bad call" is while you are on the field - find a way to win the game - regardless of the "bad call". When the clock expires - look at the scoreboard - did you win or lose?

We all hate bad calls - but...they happen.

Oh, and Mychael - if your whole D couldn't stop one player (Vince Young) from shredding it - how can you think you are #1? Your "D" allowed him to have one of his best games EVER in his highest pressure game EVER.

There is only one word - scoreboard!

If the refs weren't so bad against Florida State in the Orange Bowl in 93. We would have won three national championships in a row. We lost that game, USC lost the Rose Bowl. Get over it. :asshat
