Tulane is heading into the NCAA baseball tournament with the No. 1 national seed and plenty of confidence. The Green Wave (50-9), ranked No. 1 in at least one of the major national polls for all but three weeks this season, were selected as the top seed for the 64-team Division I college baseball tournament Monday.

A Big 12 co-championship and a demanding schedule paid off in a big way as Baylor received the No. 4 national seed Monday in the 64-team NCAA Baseball Tournament.
The Bears will be the top seed at the Waco Regional Friday through Monday at Baylor Ballpark. If the Bears win this weekend's four-team regional, they'll host a best-of-three Super Regional against the winner of the Clemson Regional June 10-13.

Host and regional top seed Texas (45-14) opens NCAA Regional Tournament play Friday against Northeast Conference champ and regioanl No. 4 seed Quinnipiac (26-22), it was announced Monday. The Austin Regional site also includes No. 3 seed Miami (Ohio) (44-16) and former Southwest Conference rival Arkansas (37-20), a No. 2 seed.
SEC sends nine to NCAA tourney
For the fifth straight year, the Southeastern Conference leads all conferences in the number of teams in the NCAA baseball championship field nine teams, followed by the ACC with seven and the Big 12 and Pac-10 with five each. This marks the fourth time in the last five seasons the SEC has sent at least eight teams on the “Road to Omaha”. The SEC sent an NCAA record-high nine teams to the NCAA Tournament in 2004.
