Lincoln to get diverging diamond interchange

That intersection features plenty of Lincoln drivers, but it's also heavily traveled by 6 and 16 county drivers from Sewage and Wahoo. Most of those people aren't used to driving in the Big City as it is. Throw a roundabout on top of that and they go into catatonic shock.

Hell, Lincoln drivers brain-lock at four-way stops. There was almost no chance they'd figure out a two-lane roundabout, let alone a three-laner.

Funny thing is they're actually really damn simple after you go through them once. One thing that always has bugged me is that no one signals their intention either when they are going to exit. That would make merging much smoother imo.

Lincoln's civil engineers need to quit being cute and just do things simple and correct

Go read the LJS write up from a few days ago, diverging diamonds increase traffic flow and reduce crashes due to lane crossings. DERP.

Yeah, in a vacuum, maybe, with competent drivers, maybe. Lincoln drivers can't even handle a f'ing roundabout. DERP indeed.

^^^^^This. Go to the UK, multi-lane roundabouts all over. If you dont signal your turn death, or near death will happen. These suckers are high speed and they have no room for people not indicating their turns.

This is the issue in Lincoln, the low volume roundabouts get backed up since NO ONE will use the indicators, so you end up stopping. A multi-lane just compounds that issue, on top of the fact there is only one in Lincoln (maybe the state), so a lot of people are not used to such a set up, yeah just dumb.
