Birmingham, AL -- It wasn't a politically correct name, so organizers of a popular haunted house have decided to alter one of its attractions this year. Mental health advocates were not pleased with the name "Slag's Insane Asylum." Advocates said it was insensitive to people with mental illnesses.
The Operators of Sloss Fright Furnace changed the name to "Slag's Un-ending Nightmare."
Advocates argue that mental illness often is viewed as being a character defect, so many who need treatment for mental disorders don't get it.
Robert Yarbrough, producer of Sloss Fright Furnace, also said he would change artwork that depicted a man bound by a straitjacket.

Sloss Fright Furnace, which opens Wednesday and closes Halloween night, draws more than 40,000 visitors each year.
