Youth watch: He's not on campus yet, but it'll be interesting to see if one of the recruits, like, say, JD Spielman, can work his way into Nebraska's return game quickly. He's got some of those same highlights that remind of Pierson-El. While Morgan did an admirable job as a kick returner, it wouldn't be the worst thing to take those hits off of him in favor of a natural return man.
The conversation until spring ball is ... about if the Huskers can get the return game going again. After all the excitement surrounding Pierson-El in 2014, Nebraska had just 114 punt-return yards on 11 attempts this season. Pierson-El had 596 yards two years ago, which was best in the country by nearly 200 yards. He is likely to miss spring ball as he recovers from a torn ligament. But Riley said during bowl practices Pierson-El has been in good spirits of late as his limp starts to disappear.
