Locker as fast as Martinez

Locker doesn't have the moves or the shiftiness. He could gain consistent chunks when a big gaping hole opens up in front of him, but I doubt he'll have much success. Our defense is tailored to defend the pass and stop quarterbacks that can run with the football.

Locker's first couple years he played pretty much like TMart. It wasn't until Locker missed most of his Sophomore season and Sark got there that he slowed down and stopped running the option and started working on his pocket presence. I think most will be surprised of his speed and agility if he does run at all - Sark hasn't had him in the spread option much in the last year.

While I essentailly agree with both your, pints and Locker has decent speed. Let's not forget how well Zac ran aginst Arizona last year, not exactly a team that was steller at stoping the QB run.

I realize this is off topic but wanted to point out
The main thing I noticed about this video, the first two guys to congradulate T-mart when he got to the sidelines were Green and Lee. To me that shows a lot of class as heated as the QB battle was they are still cheering for one another. Just glad to have three standup guys playing for us.
Jake Locker has ran multiple 4.4's in the 40-yard-dash before. That is a fact.
Not too many QB's in the country can run that fast. Locker is actually one of the top three fastest players on Washington's roster.
Martinez looks GREAT so far, but I think that we need to see how he does against a little stiffer competition than WKU and Idaho.
I am both a Husker and Husky fan (like them both equally as much) but I would not try and downplay Locker. His W/L record at U-Dub isn't good but this is really the first year that he's had some quality talent surrounding him (last year too, but the team IS more talented this year).
I don't know who'd win in a race between Martinez and Locker but I'm guessing it's not as clear-cut as the OP wants to think. Locker has RB-type speed and as I said before, that's a fact.

I didn't mean to take anyting away from him, he our ran a d back stride for stride in that video, any time a qb does that its impressive, just making the comment that the front 7 in that video wasn't the best. Needless to say if the blackshirts don't prepare for Locker's run as well as his pass it will get ugly.

Locker runs like Cody Green if he's like any of our guys... Martinez with his acceleration is on a whole other level.
