NU Season Opener to be Televised on Pay-Per-View Basis

The Maine-Nebraska college football game on Saturday, Sept. 3 will be telecast via pay-per-view on participating cable systems and nationwide to satellite dish customers. Big 12 Special Order Sports, Fox Sports Net's pay-per-view division, will produce and distribute the telecast.

Suggested retail price for the 6:00 PM CT kickoff from Lincoln, Neb., is $29.95. Additional information about how to purchase the telecast, including a list of participating cable systems and satellite providers, will be announced in the next several days. Please check Huskers.com for updates on how to purchase the contest.

“Our fans across the country were very receptive to our pay-per-view telecasts last season, and we know they will be excited about an opportunity to watch the 2005 season opener,” Pederson said. “For those that can’t get to Lincoln for the game it will also give them a chance to see some of the exciting changes that have been made at Memorial Stadium, including our new FieldTurf.”

The game is being televised on pay-per-view because it was not selected for over-the-air broadcast or cable television coverage. Under Conference TV rules, games not picked up for regular television distribution can only be televised live on pay-per-view.

Participating cable and satellite providers will offer the telecast to their customers on a specially designated pay-per-view channel. The telecast will not pre-empt FSN's regularly scheduled programming.

Veteran announcer Greg Sharpe, the television play-by-play voice of Nebraska basketball on FSN, calls the action alongside former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback/current NFL on FOX analyst Jayice Pearson. Long-time Huskers radio voice Kent Pavelka will report from the Memorial Stadium sidelines for the telecast.

The Maine-Nebraska telecast will be the fifth Nebraska football game distributed on pay-per-view, following: Oct. 12, 2002 vs. Missouri; Oct. 25, 2003 vs. Iowa State; Sept. 4, 2004 vs. Western Illinois; and Oct. 2, 2004 vs. Kansas. Nebraska won all four of those games.

Further details will be posted on Huskers.com, FOXSports.com on MSN (search:Midwest) and goblackbears.com as they become available.

Stupid Wedding......I can't believe I have to go to a wedding that night, I'll probably ditch out early. Anyone that can tape the game, I'm willing to put it on DVD and will also put the other games on DVD. Let me know who can help or interested

I wold do it, but my wiring ins't setup to record the higher channel that Cox is offering it on. If you don't find anyone to do it, let me know and i will just move my vcr to the bedroom and get another cable box from Cox and record it, even though it will be a hassle. ;)

I would appreciate that if you can get it on Tape and send it to me to put it on DVD. I'll ask a friend who might order the game but not sure if he is actually going to the game. I'll keep you posted ######......are you interested in the other games like Wake Forrest and Pitts. No of any cool Nebraska desktop so I can use it as the background of the DVD. Thanks again
