Malachi Coleman is out

This is a bummer to hear.  Not sure what the reasons would be for leaving the home state, other than playing time.

but something did not go well this year for him.  And perhaps he just wants to go somewhere to play.

As an athlete, it is very difficult suiting up and not playing when the team is 5-5.  Then removing your uni and telling the staff "no need to wash it like last week".  Not everybody wants to go to school for 5 years.  Time is important.

Guess it depends what he wants from his college experience. I don't see him transferring to another major program - the expectations for him won't be any lighter. If he cares about getting his degree, I'm sure he can find some D-II or D-III school where it's more like playing high school ball and he won't have to worry about silly things like learning routes and the playbook and having to compete with other players.

I’m not capable of being upset about 8 passes for 139 yards of production leaving the program.

’But he was a good blocker…’ so you want to play him as a blocking WR and think he’s not transferring after that?

The people that want coaches fired will use this as evidence. Is it possible he just didn’t put in the work it takes to get on the field?

Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda was in the portal and opted to come back. We'll see.

With a 105 limit, I doubt we have the flexibility to take guys back once they're in the portal. There was no actual cost to taking IGC back, and it was a different staff when he left the portal. Sure we'd let certain guys test the portal and still come back, but that list is very small and I wouldn't think that includes Coleman.

What we do know is he had a me moment while the team was trying to achieve a milestone.  I can appreciate his frustration, but the fact this couldn't hold for 10 more days is rather telling.

I see on the graphic in the x statement above, it's him, and propathmgmt.

Was his management in his ear telling him to go to "greener pastures" ?
