Malachi Coleman is out

Pretty much everyone will to some degree. Nebraska more than basically everyone.
There are several teams in the SEC that carry 130 to 140 players.  This appears to help the smaller schools as there will be some talent out there looking for a new home.  I would think the huskers will try to open up some spots for a few these players.

I feel like the roster limits are not a 100% done deal. I think there’s a formality vote of some sort in April and I’ve heard rumblings of a lawsuit initiated by colleges against the NCAA. So 98.7%.  At the very least maybe there will be an in junction while it gets sorted out. Give an extra year to pare down rosters.

Regarding Coleman, I remember someone (maybe DB?) said about Betts when we was going through it was "some kids like the idea of being a football player more than they like playing football".  I think that might apply to Coleman in this situation.

Look at Barney, you can tell that kid loves playing football.  He weighs 170 lbs soaking wet, takes hit after hit, and pops his a$$ right back up every time while saying some things to the opponents.

Be nice if ncaa used some common sense.  There is 1 more season of 6th yr covid players.  It would be smart to start the new limitations after this is done or at least stair step the change over a couple years.

Sounds like Coleman was ok with the redshirt at the start of the season but thought he would get a chance to be in the mix for the last four games. When he was left off the travel roster for USC, he didn’t appreciate it.

Yep. 2020 (covid year), 2021 (or whatever year they took their redshirt), and then 2022 + 2023 + 2024 + 2025  as normal playing eligibility. Maybe a few beyond that if they got a medical waiver or something.

So, more quit in a huff, and less after careful consideration?

I always picture a parent or aspiring agent having these kids ears and getting them all jacked up on the disrespect the team is showing them (hey Grandma Fidone!). It's a pretty spotty record for players who storm off in a huff.
