A firefighter in Kokomo, Ind. will have to pay through the hose, er, nose, after using a fire truck to water his lawn.
Capt. Kevin Shaffer used water left in a tanker truck after a training exercise to water his house’s lawn, a use of firefighting resources his superiors frown upon. While the water would have just been purged onto a street or parking lot, effectively wasting it, Shaffer used it for a little landscape maintenance. The clever use of resources earned him a $120 fine, as well as a per-gallon cost of $0.35.
