None of which is illegal or against NCAA rules. That doesn't warrant a suspension or expulsion from the team. That is why I said try to keep it to what is relevant. Once again, you never answered my question about Taylor being rich, spoiled, and how that makes him a bad person and not worthy of playing.
There a lot of attention whores in college football. You know that whole thing called signing day???????????? With the hats and the pageantry??????????????

I also want to add in I'm not necessarily defending Johnny, because the guy is a self-centered, arrogant and egotistical douche. I just think that none of that really has to do with him being suspended. There are a lot of idiots on the field every day - who do worse things than Johnny. Taking 7,500 is the issue - not him driving a mercedes or having a rich family, or being a douche bag and partying all the time.

Thats fine. So every rich kid shouldn't be allowed to play college football? And, being a douchebag doesn't warrant being suspended from college football, does it? I don't see laws broken for being an ignorant tool. Nope.
I just don't see the relevance of "this guy is super rich and spoiled and he took 7,500. he should be kicked off the team". No, the issue is he could be richer than an Saudi oil king or poorer than (in wealth) than the poorest man alive, taking 7,500 is bad either way you slice it as presently stated in the NCAA guidelines.
It goes to if he took the $7500 or not- that is the question, did he sign all that stuff 100s of itmes for 2+ hours for free or did he get paid to do so?
All the rest of who he is and all his past behavior points directly at - his selfish, narcisstic, enabled, poor decision making- which is consistent with him taking the $7500
Along with the pic of him signing and the 100+ items that broker had listed for sale that Manziel signed
And he did that to his teammates and school- even though he didnt really even need the $$$

I didnt see Taylor M doing anything remotely like that or 95% of the things Manziel did in the years leading up to this
There is audio and testimony, but no video of JM taking money from a ticket broker and putting it into his pocket
Just like there is no video of OJ killing his ex wife
SO you have to look at the rest of the evidence
Probably all for naught, the NCAA is too busy investigating if some player got $35 back for selling their textbooks or if a coach made 21 phone calls instead of 20. They dont seem to care a whole lot about the really big stuff. Because if this is OK to do- youve opened up a whole new can of worms on buying recruits.

Oh no, I definitely agree that it's bad, regardless of his SES. But people are going to be picking at answers as to "why", and having money is certainly something to be considered. He shouldn't be thrown off the team because he is rich; he should be thrown off the team because he violated a key NCAA rule.

I thought the point of the thread was to ask how we would react and whether or not we would want him - like I said, maybe I missed it, but it seems like you are the only one trying to keep everything relevant to whether he should be suspended when everyone else is only keeping it relevant to him being a turd.

Im going to feel a bit more forgiving to a destitute kid with no dad who is trying to get up $400 to go see his mom in New Jersey and hasnt been home for 2 years than I am a guy living with Mom and Dad in College station, driving a Mercedes, never worked a day in his life, has unlimited $$$ - but put his teammates at risk for $7500
It also goes to those that are reserving their opinion of him based on his guilt or innocence- if there isnt any video evidence of him taking money and putting it in his pocket. SO all you have is the other evidence AND his pattern of behaivor.
Im also would like to think that if Bo had a kid like this, he wouldnt have ever let it get to this level (enabled)
I also would like to think that us NU fans wouldnt trade our integrity for wins and call for the kid to be suspended- he has 1 foot out the door already. Has zero intention of staying in school. Maybe Im wrong, hope I'm not.

Manziel doesn't sound like the kind of guy I'd like to hang out with but man, the character assassination of the guy. He's a spoiled (seeming) kid who likes to party and is completely oblivious to the fact of the spotlight.

The court system and the NCAA compliance system are two entirely different things.
I am not well versed in NCAA regulations, but I'd assume after some sort of concrete allegations (autograph vendors with pictures/video and claims that they paid him money), the burden can be shifted to Manziel. It could become a ridiculous burden otherwise. Without subpoena power, how would the NCAA obtain a paper trail?
