Mark Schlabach's predictions for 2014 CFB

His predictions:

1. An SEC team will not win the National Championship

2. Changes will be made to targeting rule

3. Alabama RB Derrick Henry will do stuff

4. There will be controversy

5. Charlie Strong will win games at Texas

6. James Franklin will coach at PSU

7. "Clemson and South Carolina will move their game to a parking lot"

8. Bobby Petrino will be back to "big time coaching"

9. Winston will win the Heisman

10. Florida will make a bowl game.

My commentary:

1. Seems "edgy" given the SEC's recently ended streak but it really isn't. meh.

2. Ok

3. Great, no one cares

4. Really? That isn't much of a prediction, we all know that.

5. Of course.

6. Article was published yesterday and the move was announced yesterday

7. What does that even mean?

9. Second real prediction and a "safe" one. How many people picked JFF this time last year? Seems like everyone even though back-to-back rarely happens.

10. Another "safe" prediction. Their OOC schedule next year, outside of FSU, is as easy as it usually is. Sans injuries they should hit six wins pretty easily.

Alabama loses 2 regular season games. LSU and A&M. Botb those teams struggle to win 8 games on the year. Tennessee wins East and beats Auburn in title game.

FSU beats Miami for 2nd straight ACC title.

Loisville goes 6-6 without Bridgewater and Strong. ACC debut not impressive

USC wins south and lowes to Oregon in PAC12 title game. Stanford goes 9-3. Colorado goes 3-9 haha.

Nobody cares about the Big American East Conference.

Baylor goes 8-4, Oklahoma wins Big 12, Texas comes in 2nd, Kansas fires Weiss after winless year.

Mine:

1. Louisville, led by Petrino and Chizik, dominate much of their slate next year and finish no lower than third in the Atlantic Division of the ACC.

2. Cincinnati will win the American Conference.

3. Pittsburgh will beat Iowa and will finish no lower than third in the Coastal Division of the ACC.

4. Mississippi State will finish no lower than third in the SEC West, Texas A&M no higher than fifth.

5. Jameis Winston will not win the Heisman.

6. Washington State will end the season with at least eight wins.

7. Christian Hackenberg will prove to be the best QB in the B1G.

8. Ohio State will lose to Michigan State and will not win the East

9. Arkansas will not come close to winning an SEC game until November and will finish with, at the very most, no more than two conference wins.

10. Florida State, Alabama and Ohio State each will finish the season with at least one loss.

When they first formed divisions in 1992 they put Auburn in the West, even though they're farther east than Vanderbilt, so that Alabama could retain the Iron Bowl and its rivalry with Tennessee, that messed up the first divisions.

Then with expansion, instead of just moving Auburn to the East and putting Missouri and A&M in the West they placed Missouri in the East to again protect the now largely dead Alabama-Tennessee rivalry. Kind of dumb...but yes, it makes complete sense that Auburn would beat Alabama and end up in the SEC CG, it happened last year and in 2010...that's how divisions work. I don't think Tennessee will win the East though.

The whole idea of protected cross division rivalries in the SEC is kind of dumb. There are only three that historically can be viewed as rivalries and that's Vandy-Mississippi, Georgia-Auburn, and Tennessee-Alabama. The other four shouldn't warrant protecting: South Carolina-TAMU, Arkansas-Mizzou, Mississippi State-Kentucky and Florida-LSU. Just move Auburn to the East and protect the IB and Vandy-Mississippi. Georgia-Auburn will stay intact and the conference will make much more sense and be better balanced.

3. Ohio State doesn't make playoffs

4. Randy Gregory makes Clowney type hit vs Wisconsin and becomes nationally recognized as one of the best defensive lineman.

5. Red River rivalry comes down to double OT and Oklahoma blocks a field goal to win the game.

6. Lee Corso uses at least two curse words on College Gameday.

7. Oregon gets beat by UCLA and Stanford.

8. Michigan's new OC doesn't help their stagnant offense.

9. B1G finishes with a respectable record in bowl games.

10. Bo Pelini never gets his cat back.

1. South Carolina forgets they still have a solid RB for most of the year costing them games.

2. Georgia takes the East.

3. LSU wins the West.

4. Baylor's defense is a let down. Offense is still strong.

5. Oklahoma wins R^3 and Big 12.

6. Florida State chokes (We saw that coming) but still wins ACC.

7. Oregon figures out how to put most of a year together. Beats Stanford for PAC-12 title.

8. Wisconsin manages to win division with tie-breaker, Nebraska revolts.

9. tOSU wins division with three way tie-breaker only to get embarassed by Wisconsin. Urban quits due to illness.

10. 2 loss Wisconsin claims unfare as they are left out of playoffs in favor of 2 loss Oregon.
