Marlon Lucky against MU

DaveH

Team HuskerBoard
I thought he had a decent game for the number of touches he had. He almost took that kick return to the house. He seems to be grasping the speed of the game more and more every time he get's the ball.

both kickoff returns he had, he was blazin right through, and like you said almost took one to the house...can't wait till we finally see him break a big run or something to get us excited for the future of him...

I thought Lucky's emergence on the kick off returns was one of the few bright spots from yesterday's game.

You have to wonder why he hasn't been there all year.
He look pretty tentative when he got in on the early games. It looks as though now he is starting to a feel for the speed of the college game.

Watching his high school tapes leeds me to believe that once he gets a feel for the speed of div.1 football he will break MANY MANY runs. Once he got past the other teams D-line he was elusive and quick to the endzone in HS. Just a matter of time before he breaks that first one, and then look out when he gets a little more confidence. He will put up great numbers when he starts getting the carries.

I mean as a kick off returner. Let him get his feet wet there and then bring him into iback instead of just playing him cold at iback 2 plays a game.

Gotcha.

Players like Lucky are evidence that this staff are great at recruiting. Callahan & co. were able to recruit a great class last year and I think it will only get better. How many years under the Solich era did we go without being able to commit a big-play, blue chip running back? Now we just need to get Clausen from Oaks Christian in Cali.

He looks very athletic/explosive, but does he have break away speed? I can't tell yet.
I don't know what you are referring to break away speed, but one announcer during a couple games back said he ran a 4.3 40. You don't get a lot faster than that out on the football field. In comparison, they said BS ran a 4.3 40. We didn't see anyone even come close to catching him on an 80 yard TD run. If Lucky breaks free and no one has a big angle on him, he's gone!
