Marrow to Kentucky

....too much fun here. are we just trying to keep marrow or working off our "ideal" staff? here's a mix....($6,000,000 budget)

Head Coach: Joe Moglia – Somewhere out there ($750,000)

Offensive Coordinator: Tim Beck – NU (keeping for continuity - and he's relatively cheap in comparison to the others here, so I need the $$ to stay under budget) – ($500,000)

Offensive Line: Pat Hill – Falcons/Fresno ($650,000)

Running Backs: Ron Brown - NU ($400,000)

Receivers-Co Offensive Coordinator: Scott Frost – Oregon – will be groomed to take over the OC position when Beck leaves. ($650,000)

Defensive Coordinator: Tosh Lupoi - Washington ($750,000)

Defensive Line: Brick Haley - LSU ($550,000)

Linebackers: Bob Gregory – Boise ($450,000)

Secondary: Ron Cooper – Tampa/LSU ($550,000)

ST & Recruiting Coordinator: DJ Durkin – Florida ($750,000)

Graduate Assistant Coach: Anyone (someone dedicated to the TEs though)

Graduate Assistant Coach: Anyone (someone to assist the OL)

Graduate Assistant Coach: Anyone (someone to assist the DL)

...and for S&C I'd pluck someone from the SEC. Yoxal from Auburn is likely looking. I might also go after Stanford's S&C. Whatever they are doing with the big guys, is working.
Head Coach: Joe Moglia?

What?? What has he done to be able to coach at NU? If it is because he is rich and you don't have to pay him much to keep him happy, that is a goofy reason. Hell, I bet just about everyone on this board would give their left nut to coach at NU for half that amount.

Just sayin.....

I am going to assume he wants a CEO type of coach and Moglia is that by definition

Then put Buffet in there. He is x100,000 better.

To say our O-line wasn't a problem is a clueless statement to me... False starts, holds, missed blocks, getting pushed around... Those aren't characteristics of a good O-line. yet they were recurring features of our. Other B1G teams DC's stated it was easy to push our line around, especially in pass pro. Our running is more of a testament to the skill of our RB's over either OL coaches scheming or coaching ability, just being honest....
How many holding and false start penalties did we have this year?
I'd have to look, but I know there was three times this year that I saw us have first and 30's due to holds and false starts.
By all means, look and get back to us.
You don't have to be a douche about it. If you want the stats, you can look yourself.
Is this a serious post? I usually pride myself in seeing sarcasm without the :sarcasm , but this post has me confused...

He would be a VERY short term solution. I am not saying I agree or disagree with the Moglia idea because I do not know enough about him. I know he is a smart cat that does have more HC experience than Bo did when he was fired so hell who knows.

I'm not saying it's "traditional" - i'm not looking for a Saban, or a Meyer. I would take this lineup over either of those two. (especially because it's a long term plan, not just a 3 year stop for the HC with an entire new staff) I need a guy that can manage an all-star cast of assistants - who brings CEO/leadership experience as well as a football mind. Moglia is my perfect HC to be honest with you - but he would have to have the supporting cast. 9 top shelf assistants is better than 1 top shelf head coach and a hodge-podge of a staff any day. Bo/Meyer/Saban - they are only 1 guy. If you can put together an entire staff of guys that are the best at what they do (which I believe with enough money you could), managed by someone who can check his head coach ego at the door...I think it's a recipe for success. Just my opinion. Many would have a really hard time stepping away from the 50 year old concept that your best coach has to be your head coach, or that your highest paid staff member has to be your HC, and then your coordinators, etc. It's different, but I'd take it over a staff half full of first time BCS assistants. Not only do they bring less to the table, they take away from the other assistants as well.

Haha Chris I don't think Moglia has anywhere near the resume to coach Nebraska, anytime soon. You seem to base your entire line of reasoning on "We won't have to pay him as much so we have more money for assistants", and that is pretty faulty thinking to begin with, I think. You're expecting him to work for pennies just because he's rich and I think that would make for a very unusual dynamic. And also, the reason we don't pay our staff very much isn't a pocketbook issue, it's because our staff is a lot of recent GAs and young inexperienced guys and such.

The boosters and the pocketbook are available if they want to use it.

Not to underplay the CEO aspect of being a head coach, but you also have to be a football guy. That doesn't mean star coordinator. I'll point to Bill Belicheck as an example, he is extremely good with X's and O's on both sides of the ball, but his profession as a HC calls upon his management skills. There's a reason why it takes football guys with those management skills to be HC though. And Nebraska isn't really the place to run the counter experiment.
