In the past Charlie McBride's philosophy on many third and longs was he didn't want an opposing QB to have any time to throw.

He usually brought heavy pressure in these situations. If a QB somehow managed to complete a pass under the pressure, he would tip his hat and bank on getting the QB the next time.
