Your first reaction to one news outlet seemingly having more information than others is to essentially accuse them of lying? Come on. That's little more than conspiracy theory. Alia Conley is a kickass reporter.
As for Mo, I'm not sure I get the 'he's gone' talk just yet. His alleged decisions in this case were not good, but, he faces charges for a non-violent misdemeanor and a non-violent felony. Lawyers tend to seek plea deals in these sort of cases and I think whatever limitations set forth by a hypothetical plea will impact his future more than anything else. I have a feeling, and maybe it's a bad feeling, that he's not kicked off the team unless potential penalties make it impossible to remain a student athlete at Nebraska.
I agree that I don't think he is gone. Unfortunately for Mo the best charge they have on him is the child porn charge, but it appears to me from the coverage that the prosecution wants the revenge porn charge to stick (which is a lesser offense). The reason why the prosecution would want the revenge porn charge to stick is this is a high profile case (D-1 football player) that can be a cautionary tale to youngsters under a fairly new statute/crime. Getting a conviction/plea on the revenge porn brings attention to the statute and to high school students who most likely aren't aware such a crime exists. It also lends credence for school administration/guidance counselors to use as a teaching moment for students.
I see him pleaing out on the revenge porn in exchange for dropping he child porn charge. Mo gets probation and comes back to Nebraska. I think he gets a 1 game suspension and all parties involved move on.
