Not saying one way or the other is correct, but you are overstating the effect of any blowback. Remember Ohio State's troubles during the me too movement last year? Did any of that actually hurt them even a little bit? I don't think so. Feel what you'd like to about the morality of the situation but don't kid yourself that some negative publicity will have much of an effect on anything.

That's true. Simply stating that they are waiting for the legal process to play out implies that they are waiting for all the evidence to come out but does not indicate that they've talked to Mo and he disputes it. We have no idea what kind of investigation the university has conducted and I know the Lancaster DA had a problem with TO questioning people over incidents but TO said he did it because the legal process took too long and he wanted to take disciplinary action sooner rather than get blindsided by a court ruling later. The current policy of the university may be to not investigate and wait for the courts to rule. I believe due to the seriousness of what Mo is charged with they need to be careful with what they say or the kind of punishment they impose in order to not influence Mo's legal case. Another reason they shouldn't have suspended Mo for 1/2 game (if it was actually for the CA case instead of being stupid with weed).
I wouldn’t call keeping him from playing college football until the matter is resolved a “severe” punishment.
Is Wisconsin getting much blowback on this except from maybe angry badgers? It seems like there are always holier than thou people quick to demand punishment and in cases like the Wiscy WR the outraged people that originally called for his head should get the criticism. The reason they don't is because there are always outraged people making noise, but they don't really matter. As long as UNL is doing what seems right for all concerned then they should trust their decisions as Wisconsin probably did.
Yes but people say this case is different since Mo was no longer a minor and the other boys were at the time of their incident. That said after some research I'd be surprised if Mo caught more than a misdeminor charge.

They weren't charged with a felony. The only felony Maurice is charged with is child pornography, which given the circumstances I would imagine he would be able to plead it down to a misdeminor. That isn't for sure, but I think that is what ends up happening. The revenge porn charge is already a misdeminor.
